Devotional: You Are Not Stuck
Grief over what has ended is real. Whether it is a relationship, a role, or a season of life you loved, loss leaves a mark. And it is easy to get so focused on what was that you miss what God is doing right now. When Moses died, it was a significant loss for the nation of Israel.
He had led them through the wilderness for forty years. But God did not allow Joshua to stay in that grief. He acknowledged what had happened and then pointed Joshua forward. Rise. Cross. Go. God is not dismissive of your pain. He sees it. But He also refuses to let your past define the boundaries of your future. His purpose is not wrapped up in one person, one position, or one season.
It is bigger than any single chapter of your story. Sometimes we get stuck in what was, replaying old memories and measuring the present against a past that no longer exists. But God is always moving forward, and He is inviting you to move with Him. Your story is not over. The season that ended was not the final word. God is still writing, and the next chapter is full of His faithfulness.
Bible Verse
"Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, the children of Israel." - Joshua 1:2 (New King James Version)
Reflection Question
Is there a past season or loss that you have been holding onto so tightly that it has made it difficult to receive what God has for you now?
Quote
"Sometimes we get stuck in what was."
Prayer
Father, help me to release what has ended and trust that You are still at work in my life. Give me the courage to rise and move forward with You. Amen.
