AHOS Residency — Final Day: Closing Two Weeks Together

This morning, the community gathered once more — this time in stillness — for a final service of visitation before the Myrrh-streaming Iveron Icon of the Theotokos, the “Hawaiian” Icon.

There was something profoundly moving about standing before her one last time before parting ways, as if she herself was blessing us on our way home. The gentle fragrance of myrrh lingered in the air, and the quiet streaming upon the icon felt like a tender farewell from the Mother of God herself, a final embrace before we scattered back to our corners of the world. Many stood in silence, moved to tears, humbled to have witnessed such grace during these two weeks.

Breakfast carried a special warmth today, filled with laughter, reflection, and gratitude as residents lingered a little longer over conversation, savoring these last moments together in the village.

Every group who came before the icon left changed, carrying with them the memory of her streaming presence and the sweetness of the myrrh, a gift none of us will soon forget.

As farewells were exchanged and the community began returning to their various corners of ministry and academic life, we give thanks for these two weeks together — for the friendships deepened, the learning shared, and the quiet beauty of gathering as one family in Christ, drawn even closer through the presence of the Theotokos among us.

The House of Studies carries this spirit forward, grateful for all who made this residency so meaningful, and grateful above all for the Mother of God’s nearness to us these past two weeks, until we are together again.

AHOS Residency — Final Day, Closing Two Weeks Together

The community gathered once more for Orthros this morning, offering a final shared prayer as the residency draws to its close.

Breakfast carried a special warmth today, filled with laughter, reflection, and gratitude as residents lingered a little longer over conversation, savoring these last moments together in the village.

Our PhD, DMin, MDiv, and MPCC students closed out two weeks of rich theological formation, carrying forward not only what they have studied but the bonds formed along the way in preparation for a life dedicated to serving Christ’s Church.

By evening, Vespers and a final communal dinner brought the residency to a tender close — a fitting end to two weeks defined by prayer, study, and the simple gift of shared life in the Antiochian Village.

As farewells are exchanged and the community prepares to return to their various corners of ministry and academic life, we give thanks for these two weeks together — for the friendships deepened, the learning shared, and the quiet beauty of gathering as one family in Christ.

AHOS Residency — Week Two, Day Three

The community began the morning with Orthros, joining together in worship before turning to the demands of academic life.

Over breakfast, residents shared a lively moment of fellowship and conversation ahead of the day’s coursework.

Our PhD, DMin, MDiv, and MPCC students dove back into their studies, advancing steadily in their theological formation and their preparation for a life dedicated to serving Christ’s Church.

By evening, Vespers and a communal dinner drew the day to a quiet close, reflecting once more the rhythm of prayer and shared life that defines the residency.

As teaching and worship continue to shape the days ahead — with farewells approaching later in the week — the House of Studies presses forward in its ongoing mission.

AHOS Residency — Week Two, Day two

Worship set the tone for the day, as the community gathered for the Divine Liturgy celebrating the Nativity of the Holy Theotokos. Dean Rt. Rev. Fr. Fadi Rabbat presided, joined by concelebrating priests and faculty members, in the presence of His Grace Bishop Thomas Joseph, with the choir under the direction of Fr. Raphael Hanna lifting the service in song.

Residents came together in prayer before the day’s academic demands began.

A hearty breakfast offered space for fellowship and conversation before classes resumed.

PhD, DMin, MDiv, and MPCC students returned to their studies, continuing the work of theological formation and preparing for a life of service to Christ’s Church.

As evening arrived, Vespers and a shared dinner brought the day to a peaceful close, rounding out another day rooted in prayer and communal life.

With prayer and teaching guiding the days ahead — and farewells drawing near as the week progresses — the residency continues to carry forward the enduring mission of the Antiochian House of Studies.

AHOS Residency — Second Week, Day One

The day began with Orthros, as residents gathered in prayer to root the day in worship and unity before turning to their academic work. A hearty breakfast followed, offering a warm moment of fellowship ahead of the day’s classes.

All attendees then came together for the opening orientation, which began with a prayer followed by remarks from President Fr. Michel Najim, Dean Fr. Fadi Rabbat, and Director of Residency Fr. Elias Boulos.

Coursework then resumed, with students continuing to grow in their theological formation and in their preparation to serve Christ’s Church. PhD, DMin, MDiv, and MPCC students all took part in the day’s classes.

The day drew to a close with Feastal Vespers for the Nativity of the Holy Theotokos, celebrated with the Litia and Artoklasia, followed by a shared dinner — closing out another blessed day of the residency in prayer and community.

Theology and prayer will remain at the heart of the residency as the second week continues — a week marked by prayer, teaching, and farewells, carrying forward the mission of the Antiochian House of Studies.

AHOS Residency — Day Seven

Day seven of the AHOS Residency opened in prayer and joy, as the AHOS President, faculty, administration, and our PhD and MDiv students gathered at the Antiochian Village for the Divine Liturgy.

The Divine Liturgy of the 14th Sunday of Matthew was presided over by the Academic Dean, Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Fadi Rabbat, who concelebrated together with the AHOS faculty.

In his homily, Fr. Fadi called the community to reflect on Christ’s parable of the wedding feast — reminding us that we are called not merely to occupy a seat at the table, but to be clothed in humility, reconciliation, and love, so that our lives may answer the King who calls us by His grace.

Following the Divine Liturgy, everyone gathered together for a joyful brunch, continuing in warm fellowship as the residency carries forward.

Our second group of students will be joining us this evening as we begin the second week of the residency — please keep them, along with our current students, faculty, and staff, in your prayers as this year’s residency continues to unfold.
