Please join us.

Come hear John Rutter’s evergreen classic, Gloria, perfectly paired with Behold New Joy: Ancient Carols of Christmas, a suite of medieval carols revived by celebrated composer, Shawn Kirchner. Director Dr. Niké St. Clair leads the sixty-voice choir accompanied with the composer on piano and pipe organ, as well as a brassy ten-piece chamber orchestra. Other Kirchner carols round out the program. Performances are December 14 and 21 at 4 pm at 2425 E Street in La Verne, California

The congregation is invited to participate in a “Hot Spot/Cash Mob” on Saturday, August 17th at 11 a.m. at Rincon Azteca. The “Hot Spot” is a suggested gathering point for our church folks to meet. The “Cash Mob” idea is to pay with cash to help a local restaurant by having them avoid credit card fees. Owners Juan Carlos and Yolanda have been active in supporting community life, including LGBTQ causes.

Location: Rincon Azteca, 586 E Baseline Rd Claremont, CA 91711

Peace Camp 2024
July 29 - August 2 from 5:30pm - 8:00pm

The La Verne Church of the Brethren sponsors a non-religious day camp, which takes place each July designed for those entering Kindergarten through those entering 6th grade. This year our focus will be how we can bring our individual skills and talents together cooperatively to help create a peaceful world where all people are treated with dignity. Students participate in hands-on activities such as planting in our community garden, cooking in our commercial kitchen, and exploring open-ended art in our courtyard. We will also be hosting a meal-packing event as our service project with Rise Against Hunger, a growing global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to emergencies.

The La Verne Church of the Brethren wishes you a Happy Juneteenth. Celebrated annually on June 19th, Juneteenth is a federal holiday that celebrates the official independence day of enslaved African Americans. Enslaved people within the westernmost Confederate state of Texas were not immediately freed through the Emancipation Proclamation, despite it being effective in 1863. However, on this day in 1865, around 2,000 Union troops came to Galveston Bay, Texas, and announced that more than 250,000 enslaved African Americans were free by executive decree. June 19th came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas. Visit: https://nmaahc.si.edu/juneteenth to learn more.
