Psalm 86:11 Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.

GOD'S TRUTH!

Because of sin, we live with a warped understanding of the truth. We struggle to break free from the desire for everyone and everything to orbit around us. Yes, we would rather have a "bless me club" than a "bless God and others club." But God's truth is different; it is rooted in love and continually draws us away from ourselves and closer to God. We must first be willing to recognize our error and become teachable at the feet of our Father God. Today, Lord, teach me your ways, that I may live according to YOUR TRUTH.

Romans 12:19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.
20 Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”
21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

CONQUER EVIL BY DOING GOOD!

We all want revenge! And yes, we serve a just God, balanced by His incredible love. This creates our dilemma. But it's not a real dilemma when we truly understand who we are versus who God is. Because sin warps our standards, we see immediate justice as fitting our sensibilities. Yet we cannot fully grasp God's perspective. Probably none of us would have chosen a deliverer who was a murderer, a King who was an adulterer and murderer, or a traveling Apostle who was complicit in murder. So not only are our standards warped, but our ability to see from God's perspective is extremely limited, leaving us unable to judge fairly. Therefore, our faith in God should rule over our desire for revenge. CONQUER EVIL BY DOING GOOD!

1 Timothy 1:5 The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. 6 But some people have missed this whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions. 7 They want to be known as teachers of the law of Moses, but they don’t know what they are talking about, even though they speak so confidently.

CHOOSING SIMPLE!

We often take something meant to be simple and complicate it. Take church, for example. The church's purpose is to make disciples filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. Yet the more we make church about ourselves, the further we drift from this simple purpose. Then, it doesn't take long for these foundational tenets to feel basic and rudimentary, as if we have outgrown them. But this foundation is always simple and effective. Remember that a community's transformation doesn't come from bigger programs and budgets, but from sincere Christians revealing Jesus through purity, righteousness, and faith. CHOOSING SIMPLE!

PROMISEKEEPER!

Our ability to give others hope is only as good as our word. Yes, we often make promises with the best of intentions. Yet despite our good intentions, our character can be flawed, and we can become untrustworthy. As God blesses us and always keeps His word, we should endeavor to bless others by keeping our word as well. PROMISEKEEPER!

THE RECIPE FOR JOY!

A cup of flour alone doesn't make a cake. Yes, it takes several more ingredients to make it scrumptious. In the same way, it is impossible to be joyful without continued prayer and thanksgiving playing a prominent role in our lives. Through prayer and thanksgiving, we experience the incredible contentment God gives, and we no longer have to search for satisfaction. So... never stop praying, be thankful in all circumstances, and always be joyful. THE RECIPE FOR JOY!

HOW WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED?

It's true that we are all living on borrowed time. It's easy to keep pace with the rest of the world and become just another face in the crowd. When all is said and done, we won't necessarily be remembered for the possessions we've accumulated, the degrees we've earned, or even the great ministry we've built. It's all about our faithfulness, love, and the hope we've brought to the world around us. Yes, we can choose to be the complaining naysayer or the person filled with God's love who infuses faith and changes lives. HOW WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED?

THE RIGHT RESPONSE!

Recently, I was driving with my daughter and newborn grandson when someone unexpectedly cut into my lane. My instinct was to call that person a not-very-nice name, but I stopped myself because I thought that one day little Judah might do as his Pappi does. And while my grandson is important, God believes every person is important, and we should lead people by example to a wonderful relationship with a loving God. So... LET YOUR CONVERSATION BE GRACIOUS AND ATTRACTIVE SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE THE RIGHT RESPONSE FOR EVERYONE.

Colossians 3:12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

CLOTHED FOR THE DAY!

As we prepare for the day ahead, we clothe ourselves in what suits the weather and the task before us. In our Christian walk, every day can be stormy because we live in a dark world. So we must prepare ourselves with the appropriate clothing: tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Made in the image of our Heavenly Father, we shouldn't let this world change who we are, but with the right clothing, we should change it. CLOTHED FOR THE DAY!
