Our purpose as a church is to be a source of encouragement and nurture for all people in the Christian faith. We do this through fellowship together in Bible study, prayer, worship and service. We admit that we are an imperfect instrument in the hands of a loving and caring God, but our desire is that we will grow to be more like Him. As we grow and m

ature we will be more effective in reaching a lost and hurting world. The beliefs listed below are what we hold as the essential tenets of the historic Christian faith. We adhere to these while allowing for secondary differences. These differences might be various end-times scenarios, expressions of spiritual gifts and ways of explaining the sovereignty of God.

• The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God

• God is one in Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit

• All of humanity is lost in sin

• Salvation through the atoning sacrifice of Christ

• The second coming of Christ

Greetings Folks,

This Sunday, May 28 – 10:30 am – will be the last official day of Lake Murray Church and my last day as pastor. Tony Orlando and his team will be taking over and it will be called Lifepoint Church. Next week, June 4, the new service time will be 11:00 am.

This Sunday, we will be celebrating the loving care of God that he has given and promised in many ways through Jesus Christ. Psalm 23 is a powerful reflection of God’s miracle promises made all throughout the Scriptures.

There are probably not five more powerful words in all of Scripture than the first five words of Psalm 23: “The LORD is my shepherd.” This one sentence can be uttered with severe confidence reflective of a believer’s rest and peace in the midst of the storms of life. This phrase also can be spoken with a stern forcefulness as we proclaim our ability to live strong even while facing obstacles that may seem insurmountable. The first sentence focuses on a miracle that all believers possess.

▪ THE LORD is my shepherd ▪ Uniqueness

▪ The LORD is my shepherd ▪ Identity

▪ The LORD IS my shepherd ▪ Status

▪ The LORD is MY shepherd ▪ Relationship

▪ The LORD is my SHEPHERD ▪ Vocation

We are invited to celebrate with King David as he supplies these words for us under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This Psalm was not written down and preserved for 3,000 years by chance. It was all planned by God. And God wants to continue his plan with all who can proclaim, “The LORD is my shepherd.” Amen.

God bless and keep you,

P. Jim

Greetings,

This Sunday morning – 10:30 am – a message highlighting the miracle of the Gospel. Jesus is the answer.

Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me” (John 14:6). This can be upsetting to our worldly culture. Human nature does not take too kindly to limitations – even if those limitations have to do with what is real.

As upsetting as the exclusivity of God’s revelation to humanity is, it still does not erase the fact that it is the truth. In fact, it should actually make people happy. God has given this world a miracle! The way is open for all. Why get angry or upset about it? The other truth is that there is the reality of the existence of a spiritual battle in our world. Our world is full of alternative solutions to the problems that never seem to disappear. The problems simply reappear all throughout human history.

Praise God! We have an answer. Jesus is the answer. All of human history will, one day, bow at the feet of Christ. The end is described in the book of Hebrews this way: “Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him” (Hebrews 9:28). May more people receive this miracle. Amen.

Blessings to you,

P. Jim

AN URGENT CALL TO PRAYER

C. S. Lewis wrote an essay on the nature of morals and the concept of natural law which are founded upon transcendent biblically-based ethics. He said that history shows us that once a nation steps outside traditional morality the power gained has never been used for good. The title of his essay is “The Abolition of Man.”
Hi**er wrote in Mein Kampf, "With the appearance of Christianity the first spiritual terror entered into the far freer ancient world." He wrote this in 1924. It took only ten years for his ideas to unhinge a nation from its foundations. What Adolf Hi**er was able to do during his reign has been a cultural puzzle to many people. How could a whole nation be so easily swayed into gross error? The answer is simple: once the "terror of the transcendent" (as Hi**er labeled the Judeo-Christian moral ethic) is removed, the rest is history.
As we continue to slide down the slippery slope of human-centered moral relativism we are losing the safety and strength of God-centered absolutism. When humans become the higher law there is nowhere to go but down. The result will be a fundamental transformation of America nowhere near the original dream of our founding fathers.

Our land needs a Great Awakening. We need revival. Revival is a miracle of God. Revival is an extremely rare gift that God, in his grace, could still bestow upon a nation.

There must be humility and a willingness to be contrite over personal sins and the sins of our nation. However, it is a mysterious paradox that the contrition needed cannot even enter the scene without the help of Almighty God. So, we are in a fix. We are back to the need for revival.

Let us humbly pray and seek God for the miracle of sorrow over sin. And Let us pray that a heart of repentance toward God will flood our land.

Please pass this on to others.

God bless you and God bless America.

Greetings,

This Sunday – 10:30 am – join us for the miracle of God’s Word. Arrive early to get a good seat. Invite a friend. God’s High Priest is God's miracle for us today.

The High Priest was called by God to go through the curtain into the Holy of Holies. He was to place the blood sacrifice on top of the Mercy Seat that covered the Law. This only happened once a year on the day of Yom Kippur – the Day of Covering. It was a prophetic revelation of what Jesus himself would do for us.

Jesus is our High Priest. Hebrews 7:23 declares that Jesus is not like any other High Priest. Then, we are given insight to the miracle of Jesus: our perfect High Priest.

7:24 – A permanent High Priest

7:25 – Able to save completely

7:26 – Exalted above the heavens

7:27 – His sacrifice was once for all

7:28 – The Son of God and perfect forever

8:1 – Sat down at the Throne of God

8:2 – Entered God’s true tabernacle

8:3 – Offered himself as a sacrifice

8:4 – Not of this world

8:5 – God’s reality from heaven

8:6 – A mediator of a superior covenant

All who have given their lives to Jesus Christ have the miracle of God’s Perfect High Priest as our mediator forever. May more receive this miracle. Amen.

Blessings to you,

P. Jim

Greetings,

The miracle of God’s call to meet together to bring encouragement to one another is alive and well – this Sunday – 10:30 am.

People can trust in a lot of things. We are made this way. We trust in our locked doors. We might trust in our bank accounts or credit cards. We trust that the sun will rise in the morning. All these things, and more, should give us a little glimpse into the reality of being a human being: we must trust and/or rely on many things. It’s only natural.

There exists a supernatural trust. It comes from putting our faith in God’s plan of redemption that came through Jesus Christ. Psalm 62 is a great help to encourage us as we live out our life in a troubled world. It begins with this: “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken."

This bold statement of faith can be stated because of what follows a little later: "Power belongs to you, God; and with you, Lord, is unfailing love."

All who have accepted God’s gift of salvation in Christ will be able to live-out the truth and reality of Psalm 62. Amen.

Blessings to you,

P. Jim

Greetings,

Let’s join together in the miracle of God’s calling of fellowship – this Sunday – 10:30 am. Arrive early to get a good seat. Invite a friend. We will worship, pray and dig deeply into God’s Word together.

Sometimes we can skim over Bible verses and whole books of the Bible and miss out on vital truths. This is normal. It is in our human nature to become a little mentally numb (not dumb) when we are faced with a bunch of words. Therein lays the challenge: to grasp God’s Word so that mental numbness will be transformed into mental delight. Tucked right in the middle of the Apostle John’s first letter to us is a verse that can shatter even the most fervent numb-skull.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God. And that is what we are! – (1 John 3:1)

We will be taking a deep look into the core of this letter to mine the riches of God’s Word. John’s first letter is a gold mine waiting to be excavated. This letter is worth more than its weight in gold. We cannot weigh words from the throne of God. There is no scale with the proper calibrations. Any worldly measuring device will simply go numb. We need supernatural help so our hearts can receive the blessing of God’s Word. Then, we will be changed forever. Numbness will turn to blessedness. Amen.

Blessings to you,

P. Jim

Greetings Folks,

This Sunday - 10:30 am - arrive early to get a good seat. Invite a friend. We will take a deep look into some encouraging words from our Savior.

There are times when any one of us may feel worn and weary. We may feel fractured and frazzled. We could be disconnected and discombobulated – out of sorts and out of gas. Life just keeps plowing by and it can sometimes feel as though we are plowed under. The longer all this continues, the more impossible it may seem that there could be any relief. Thank God there is relief. Thank God for Jesus Christ.

Jesus gave an incredible invitation right in the middle of an incredible rejection. The leaders who considered themselves wise and learned completely turned their backs on Jesus. However, Jesus was quick to acknowledge that there were those who had the faith of a little child. This is the faith Jesus is looking for today. Along with this faith comes a promise. All those willing to receive Jesus will also receive this promise:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30). This invitation is open to anyone willing to bow and trust with childlike faith in God and in his gift to us: Jesus Christ.

Blessings to you,

P. Jim

Greetings Folks,

A day of mutual encouragement is upon us. That day is this Sunday – 10:30 am. And this is a miracle !

All who have received Jesus Christ as Savior now live a miracle. Not many people in this world even know what this miracle is, but believers are supposed to know. All who say “Yes” to God’s plan of salvation through HIS Savior are now considered God’s “Elect.” We have been called – chosen – elected – out of this world. We now belong to God in Christ. This is a miracle for all believers who are now called “God’s elect” (Titus 1:1).

All believers have the very promise of God deep in our hearts and it will never disappear. God planned this miracle a long time ago. In fact it was, “promised before the beginning of time” (Titus 1:2). Now, that’s a miracle!

God knows how to keep his promise: “He brought his word to light” (Titus 1:3). Hey! Who turned on the light? All who are in Christ now know exactly who turned on the light. And having the light of Christ in our hearts is a miracle that we will never take for granted. We rejoice and submit to God’s will more and more.

We live a miracle of “the knowledge of truth that leads to godliness” (Titus 1:1). This is the one reality that our lost world needs today. May more and more receive this miracle today. Amen.

Arrive early to get a good seat. Invite a friend (or two).

Blessings to you,

P. Jim
