A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP SUSAN: JOIN ME AT TONIGHT’S INTERFAITH PRAYER VIGIL
Dear Friends in Christ,
In the wake of yesterday’s tragic shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, our neighbors are gathering tonight in grief and prayer. An interfaith vigil will be held this evening at 6:30 p.m. at Lindbergh Park (4141 Ashford St., San Diego), just around the corner from the Islamic Center.
I invite all who are able to join us as a visible witness of compassion and solidarity with our interfaith partners and the wider Muslim community. In moments like this, our presence matters. Simply standing beside our neighbors in prayer and mourning is a powerful testimony to the dignity of every human being and to our shared commitment to peace.
Clergy are invited to wear white stoles as a sign of prayerful witness in the midst of grief.
As I shared yesterday, we are called not only to grieve the violence in our world, but also to bear witness to another way: the way of peace, dignity, and courageous love.
Please continue to hold the Islamic Center community, the victims and their families, and all affected by this violence in your prayers.
In Christ,
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Susan Brown Snook
