Where God Guides, God Provides

Traveling to Egypt to escape King Herod was likely a very expensive journey. 🐪 But look at what had just happened!

God had sent the wise men to provide for Joseph by giving them gold, frankincense, and myrrh. ✨ Isn't it beautiful to understand God at work, providing right for the trip itself?

As Pastor Chuck used to say, "Where God guides, God provides." 🙌

If it is God’s will, He will provide and He will pay the bill. Do you believe that He will provide for you today? 💯

Good Ideas Aren't Always God's Ideas

God truly desires to speak into the hearts and minds of every single one of us. 🗣️ If you are His child, God wants to lead, direct, and counsel you.

The goal is that we walk with Him, neither running ahead nor lagging behind. But so often, we have our bright ideas, walk out of the will of God, and find ourselves in places we're not supposed to be in. 🤷‍♂️

Before making a move, we need to learn to wait for His confirmation and only act because He has spoken. 👂

Remember, a lot of times we think we have good ideas, but good ideas are not always God’s ideas. 💡

Biblical Truth vs. Entertainment

Are your favorite Christian movies, shows, and holiday traditions actually biblical? 🎬🍿 As Bible-believing Christians, we must prioritize the truth. It is so easy to rely on TV shows like The Chosen or traditional Christmas cards to inform our faith, but so much of what we consume adds fictional drama just to keep us entertained.

Sometimes, our human nature gets lazy, and we would rather watch a movie than put in the hard work to study the biblical text for ourselves. But we put ourselves in spiritual danger when we choose the easy route of a screen. ⚠️ Why? Because when you believe the wrong thing, you do the wrong thing.

If we want to truly honor God and teach our kids the actual truth, like how the wise men weren't actually kings, didn't arrive on the night of Jesus' birth, and visited Him in a house, not a stable, we have to open our Bibles. Let’s be a people fiercely committed to the truth of God's Word, not just entertaining fiction! 📖✨

Matthew 2:1-12
Knowing the Bible Isn't Enough

Did you know it doesn't matter how much of the Bible you know if you never actually put it into practice? 📖 When Herod asked where the Messiah was to be born, the religious experts immediately knew the answer from the prophecies: Bethlehem.

But here is the ultimate tragedy of this story: Foreign wise men traveled 1,000 miles through a dangerous desert to worship the King, but the religious leaders wouldn't even travel five miles down the road to see Him for themselves! They had perfect biblical knowledge, but it made absolutely zero difference in their lives.

Today, there are people who go to church, get baptized, hear a thousand sermons, and know the scriptures frontwards and backwards, but they do nothing with that knowledge. One day, many will stand before God listing their religious deeds, and He will say, "I never even knew who you were". 🛑 We must be doers of the Word, not just hearers!

Who Is the Captain of Your Ship?

When King Herod and the rest of Jerusalem heard the news that the true King had been born, Matthew tells us they were "troubled". But why weren't they excited? Herod was troubled because he was an illegitimate puppet king appointed by Rome, and Jesus was a threat to his throne. But the rest of the people were troubled because they knew a true King would complicate their lives. ⚓️

Why do so many people today still reject Jesus as Lord and Savior? It comes down to one simple truth: if Jesus is your Master, you have to actually do what He says. Our human nature doesn't want to submit to authority. We want to be the captain of our own ship and the king in charge of our own destiny. 🚢

But here is the hard truth we must face: If Jesus is King, that means you are not. 👑 Are you willing to submit to His decrees, step off the throne, and surrender your life to the true King today?

Psalms 58-60 📖✨
Prayer is Not a Substitute for Action ⚔️

How many times do we pray for a situation and then just sit on our hands, waiting for God to do everything? 🤔 While prayer should always be our first response, it shouldn't be our only one.

When King David faced his enemies, he cried out to God for victory, but he didn't stop there, he also sent his army to fight the battle. David understood a crucial lesson: prayer is not a substitute for action. As James, the half-brother of Jesus, reminds us, "…faith without works is dead…" James 2:26 (NKJV)

God wants to partner with us! He desires for us to join Him in the work so that as we do our part, He will do His part to accomplish His purposes. Whether it's praying for a loved one and then taking the action to invite them to church, or asking God for help while taking practical steps forward, our work supplements our faith.

What are you praying for today that also requires you to take a step of faith and put in the work? Let's avoid spiritual laziness and start taking action! 🚶‍♂️🙌
