Dear Friends — on this day in 1945 at dawn Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed at Flossenburg concentration camp in the woods of Bavaria. Adella extends HUGE thank-you hugs to Jim and Judy Mannin for helping ALL DAY LONG at the Convention Center, getting things ready for BPRC’s Second Annual Benefit Banquet and Silent Auction. Same hugs go to Dixie Chatham for donating MANY items to the silent auction, adding to the variety and the income. Hugs also to Larry Smith, who donated several of his original oil paintings, plus one of his outhouse toilet tissue holders – so cute! All the members of the cell of ZCF that meets at Richard and Ladelle Atkinson’s house attended the big event, plus our frequent visitor, Loree Hamrick – always a bunch of fun! We also had Gene and Dixie Chatham, Joe and Patsy Pullen, Joe and Sandy McKey attending with us. The big surprise was Jeremy Smith, who came in from Katy, ran off the programs for us at Staples, handed them out at the door, and helped the guest speaker, Juda Myers, by running her PowerPoint and sound. The initial mess-up with the sound was the fault of the technician at the Convention Center – he connected the sound cable to the wrong place in the projector. The abrupt stopping of the presentation by Governor Perry was due to Adella’s weird ol’ laptop. Its power cord sometimes works loose and lets the battery go dead. Once it was reconnected, we got to hear the rest of Gov. Perry’s speech. BPRC is a vital ministry in our area. We are thankful for it and for the wonderful evening together. :)
