This Sunday is Father’s Day! Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are always tough to preach. There are so many in our congregation and beyond that link pain with these days. My loving wife straight up told me, “I hate Father’s Day.” It sounds awful but it’s how she feels, and yes, I got her permission to share this. The reason she “hates” Father’s Day is because her and her Daddy had a special relationship. They had a connection with each other like no one else in her life. He was called home to be with the Lord in 2021 and Father’s Day hasn’t been the same for her since. She still wishes he was here to celebrate this day. She wishes that he was still here to celebrate all of life’s moments. Yes, she celebrates me as the Father of her child and yes, she loves her Heavenly Father, but the day is still not the same. There are others I know, and I will not mention names, that “hate” Father’s day for other reasons. They may have had a Father, or husband, that was absent, may have been abusive, may have been a performance based Father, or many other negative connotations that you can associate with a Father who left you with bad memories.

This Sunday, I want to share with you what the Bible says about earthly Fathers and our Heavenly Father. We will look at both Old and New Testament scriptures. Pastor Louie Giglio says, “Our Heavenly Father is not a reflection of our earthly Fathers, He is the PERFECTION of our earthly Fathers.” So, no matter what “type” of earthly Father you have or had, know that your Heavenly Father loves you more than you can begin to understand. I can’t wait to share with you what God has laid on my heart to share with you. Psalm 68 tells us that God is “A Father to the Fatherless…” and we can rest easy knowing that our Heavenly Father is a provider, a protector, a teacher, a leader, and the one who corrects and trains us. No matter how you “feel” about Father’s Day, don’t let your negative feelings keep you from being with us on Sunday. Come at 9am to enjoy breakfast together!

See you Sunday!

-Gabe
