St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church-Holman, Texas Catholic Church
Church Picnic St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church was established at Holman in 1918. The original church was destroyed by fire in 1964.

Before that time, Catholic residents had to travel to nearby churches to attend Mass. But a new brick church was built and dedicated in December 1967. Holman is located on FM 155 between Weimar and La Grange. The Holman Picnic is held each year on the third Sunday in September.

Today is St. Wenceslaus’ Feast Day!
Wenceslaus was a devout young man who learned Christianity from his grandmother, St. Ludmila. His father was Christian but his mother was anti-Christian.
He became a leader in Bohemia and tried to unify factions, but he got caught up in the political upheaval of his time and was murdered by his own brother.
Hailed as a martyr for the faith, he is the patron saint of the Bohemian people.
Let us pray to have the courage to promote the faith, even when it is difficult.

NOTE to all bidders: The bidding will close at 8 pm, but we have an "anti-sniping" feature in effect. Any bid placed within the last 5 minutes (i.e., a "sniper bid") will extend the bidding FOR THAT ITEM for an additional 10 minutes. Then if someone bids within the last 5 minutes of the new closing time, the bidding gets extended for another 10 minutes, and so on.. This keeps anyone from losing an auction item to the clock.

Today the church celebrates the feast day of St. Wenceslaus.
He died on September 28, 935 at the hands of his brother as a result of political upheaval that included dissent over Christianity. Wenceslaus was a devout young man who was taught Christianity by his grandmother, St. Ludmila, who was also murdered during this period.
He is the patron saint of Bohemia. St. Wenceslaus, pray for us!!
