Comboni Mission Center

Comboni Mission Center We are the members of the Comboni Mission Center community in La Grange Park, Illinois. Please feel free to visit with us or call us anytime. All are welcome!

As members of the North American Province and the Institute, we are called to live the Comboni vocation and charism at the service of the Church and society here in North America. We try to do this by contributing to a wider vision of the Church, and to a deepening awareness of the Church’s call to universal mission. Having served as missionaries in other lands ourselves, we have many stories to t

ell you about the hopes, struggles, and needs of the “poorest and most abandoned” here and throughout the world. We invite you to pray for the missions and help promote the Comboni Missionary cause by spreading the word or by making a charitable financial contribution to the Comboni Mission Center.

Today is World Mission Sunday

This year’s theme is “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples.”

We join the universal Church in praying for and supporting those who carry Christ’s hope to the most vulnerable. As Comboni Missionaries, we renew St. Daniel Comboni’s vision to “save Africa with Africa,” walking with local communities so they can become builders of their own futures. Please help us by:
-Praying for our missionaries and the people they serve.
-Supporting mission works that bring education, healthcare, peace-building, and the Gospel to the margins.
-Witnessing to hope in your own neighborhood today.

Happy Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi – Join Us for Mass Today!

Happy Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi to you, and to all our Franciscan brothers and sisters, we love you! May this day renew your spirit and deepen your joy in living the Gospel.

We warmly invite you to join us today, Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 AM for our Monthly Saturday Mass:

Location: 1615 E. 31st Street, La Grange Park, IL
🕚 Time: 11:00 AM
Presider: Padre Antonio Lopez, MCCJ, Formation Director of the Scholastic Community, La Grange Park

Let’s come together to thank God for the journey He walked with us throughout September, and to commend all that lies ahead in October, the Month of Our Lady, the Month of the Rosary.

As we celebrate this feast, we hold close the words of St. Francis of Assisi:

“Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”

By the way, what’s one thing you treasure most about St. Francis of Assisi?
Let’s share our faith, our reflections, and our love for this humble saint who saw God in every creature and taught us to live with simplicity, peace, and joy.

May St. Francis of Assisi intercede for us and lead us ever closer to Christ. Amen

Pope Leo XIV greets Comboni Missionary Bishop Tesfaye Tadesse Gebresilasie.
Last month, Bishop Tesfaye visited the North American Province for our missionaries annual retreat. During this time the students at St. John XXIII School at our parish in Evanston, Illinois, and the staff and volunteers in Cincinnati made cards to send their congratulations and greetings to our new Pope.

Bishop Tesfaye happily passed along our cards last week!

Thank you Bishop Tesfaye. And continued prayers for our new Pope Leo XIV.

Prayer of the Comboni Family for July 2025:

We pray that, as missionaries, we do not rely solely on human and structural resources, but above all on the humanizing power of the Gospel. Lord, hear us.
