After the Altadena fires destroyed nearly 10,000 homes, people weren't looking for another app, another website, or another program. They were looking for each other.

Bridge Leader Daniel Peterson responded by creating a free weekly healing circle in Sierra Madre. Every Wednesday, people gathered in a park, picked up drums, and simply spent time together. Some were so overwhelmed by grief they couldn't even touch the instruments—they just cried.

Over time, strangers became friends. Children danced. Families returned week after week. One woman who had lost her son came to the circle and eventually told Daniel, "I can't wait for Wednesday to come."

In a world that is increasingly digital, Daniel's story reminds us of a simple truth:

Real connection still matters.

People heal when they are seen, known, and welcomed into community.

I physically broke down. Hundreds of dollars on doctor's visits yielded no answers for my pain, shoulder issues, or breathing problems. It's a story many can relate to, with 60% of Americans living with chronic disease. My mission is to free bodies and hearts from limitations, helping people live the life God intended.

For Felipe Martinez, ministry starts with listening closely enough to see the need before someone has to ask.
In the last 12 months, Bethesda has provided 2,500 boxes of food to families in their community. But the deeper story is what Felipe sees behind the food line: parents working two or three jobs, empty refrigerators, rent they cannot cover, and families quietly carrying fear, stress, and uncertainty.
As James said during the conversation, Felipe is in the community enough to know “the ones that really need help” — not just the ones who know how to ask.
That is what Bridge Leadership looks like.
Food boxes. Rent support. Prayer. Discipleship. Hope restored one family at a time.

In 1988, Norm Gordon came to Germantown, Maryland — not with a master plan, but with a willingness to invest in people one relationship at a time.

Over the years, living rooms filled up. Kids started hosting gatherings. Friendships became discipleship. Community became ministry.

During the conversation, James Milley joked about one of Norm’s GameNite photos:
“Out of 13 faces, 13 are smiling… that comes out to 100% success rate.”

Honestly, that may describe Norm’s ministry better than anything else.

Jim and Norm connected through BridgesUS, but their conversation centered on something deeper: faithfully discerning what God is doing next instead of following a rigid “3- or 5-year plan.”
