The holidays can become such a busy hectic time. We can become so dry spiritually because our focus is on so many other things than time with the Lord. I had this experience and felt I should share.
As I closed my eyes to pray today I saw a beautiful woman in a blue flowy dress sitting beside a pool of water. The scene was peaceful and green. As the vision pulled back I realized she was in a desert and had found an oasis in the midst!
I heard Psalm 63.
Psalm 63 is titled ‘Thirsting For God’ in the Passion translation. It begins, O God of my life, I am lovesick for you in this weary wilderness. I thirst with the deepest longings to love you more, with cravings in my heart that can’t be described.’ I encourage you to read the chapter!
This world can be like a dry desolate place, leaving us thirsty and parched for living water only Holy Spirit can provide.
She had found an oasis, a refuge, a secret place with the Lord in the midst of the dry harsh desert. It has become a peaceful place where she meets with Jesus everyday, evidence found in the lush greenery surrounding her.
Jesus calls us to come to the Oasis, to come to Him in that secret place. He is a flourishing place for us, full of life, fresh water and abundance right in the middle of the wilderness. He is the refuge where we can find relief, peace and rest.
I remember once when my 4 children were young and life was so busy just to keep them all fed and in clean clothes. I went to a women’s retreat and during prayer time a lady said, ‘Honey you are so dry!’ She recognized I was dry in my spirit and I didn’t even realize it! If you are there I encourage you to put on some worship music, get your Bible and spend time with the Lord, He will meet you there and become your oasis!
