This week, our church is full of kids on a Road Trip of their own — discovering stories from Scripture, making friends, and learning what it means to know that God is with them everywhere they go.

VBS is one of the most joyful things we get to do as a community. If you've got kids or grandkids in the neighborhood, it's not too late to send them our way! Register at www.communityumckrum.org/vbs

Sunday morning we talked about what it looks like to prepare for what God will do next at Community UMC — not just by making lists and setting up chairs, but by showing up present, learning names, and doing the work we were each made to do.

This week was band camp at the middle school and the high school. The students performed Barbie Girl. Our band youth played beautifully - drum, bass clarinet, saxophone, and more.

You don't think about the bass clarinet when you think of Barbie Girl, but without it you lose some of the song.

That's what this community is. Without any one of you, the song just isn't as good. There is a you-shaped hole when you aren't here — not just on Sundays, but in the neighborhood, at the school, around the table.

You are not a spectator. You are the song.

If you are a member of a UMC congregation, you are officially a minister.
Not a volunteer. Not a helper. A minister.

Lay ministry is not the backup plan for when the pastor is out of town. It is the plan. It has always been the plan.
