As I sit here thinking about the words to say for this Facebook post, they just don’t seem to be there. It was 8 years ago that my wife and I accepted the call of ministry to come to this beautiful church in Kokomo, IN.
I was just a young punk fresh out of college, newly married, and excited and ready to serve. The people quickly turned from strangers into family. I can still remember sitting at home during our first year here and Bree and I talking how long we think we would be here. 5 years max we both agreed. Well, here I am 8 years later sitting in the sanctuary writing this.
I can’t say that this has been easy. No, no, not at all. Pastoring is anything but an easy job. There were even times I prayed for God to take me somewhere else, but every time He would redirected me back to this is where He called me, and I responded with giving my all to the calling of God. I can say looking back, God has been faithful through it all.
And this next step will also not be an easy one, but it is one that myself, and the church, feel is where God is leading us. As with all things in life, nothing is forever, and unfortunately the time has come for Pathway of Hope to cease to exist as it has for nearly 70 years. We have decided to merge with Bon Air Church of the Nazarene. January 1st will be our last Sunday at Pathway.
This is not the end of our little church, because the church is the people not the building. We may not be meeting in the same location, but we will be continuing on and following the calling of God. And one day, I know without a doubt, I will look back and be amazed at the faithfulness of God through it all.
Sincerely,
Pastor Matt
