Parents, it's feeling a little Maycember over here, so I'm sure you are feeling it too. The older our kiddos get, the more packed the end of the school year gets--field trips, dress up days, awards ceremonies, parties...it's all a littleđ”âđ«
When we are stretched thin, the first thing to go is usually our faith life. It's easy to put it off when we don't see it on our schedule. And when we put off our relationship with God, we give up our peace. So here are a few practical ways we can help ourselves and our kids stay connected to Jesus when things get busy.
1. One Verse a Week
Share a short Bible verse each week and encourage kids to say it out loud every dayâwhile brushing teeth, tying shoes, or riding in the car.
âBe still and know that I am God.â â Psalm 46:10
2. Gratitude Game
Challenge kids to name one thing theyâre thankful for each day in May and turn it into a quick prayer at bedtime.
âThank you, God, for my teacher.â
3. Drive-Time Prayer
Encourage kids to say a short prayer while riding to school, sports, or practice.
âJesus, help me do my best today.â
4. Nighttime âYay Godâ Moments
At bedtime, invite kids to name one moment from the day that reminded them of Godâs love.
âMy friend shared with meâthanks, God, for kindness!â
