These are the tribes of modern day Russia, Turkey, Iran along with Libya and Sudan. Even though the attack comes from the north but it doesn’t mention Syria and the attack comes from its land?
Syria is a failed state since the days of Assad. Assad become a Russian puppet for quite a few years. Now the government isn’t even filled with Syrians. It’s an Al Quaida led government which most of its leaders have Turkish citizenship.

They aren’t living behind walls anymore and have taken back land they’ve given up for peace. That’s what Trump is helping them to achieve

If you have been following events between Israel and Iran, understand Iran IS Persia. They’ve pledged to destroy Israel and have lost the means to do so themselves. They lost their proxy soldiers. They’ve lost the nuclear threat. They will have to join a coalition of nations to invade Israel.

The first few verses of Ezekiel 38 identify WHO is going to be attacking Israel and WHY they will be attacking Israel. People tend to be focused on Gog and Magog and their identities but When crossed with Revelation, they will be attacking once more at end of the 1,000 year reign of Christ.
Nations are named as tribes when they are modern day Iran, Russia, Turkey, Sudan and Libya. Why is that significant today?
Russia and Iran are political, military and economic allies.
Russia, Iran and Turkey are doing business together including being responsible for stabilizing Sudan and Libya.
Russia moved their military assets out of Syria to Libya and Sudan where they attempt to smuggle arms to Hezbollah and Hamas via Syria.
Turkey despite being a part of NATO does business with Russia including the sale of weapons and missile defense.
Turkey is the primary military in Syria now and they know advancing towards Israel, Israel will not start a war with a NATO country.
Iran has expressed a desire to invade Israel.

Back in 2012, Putin met with Netanyahu and said give us drilling rights to the Leviathan project and we will call off the dogs of Iran.
Ezekiel talks about the hooks in the jaw to bring them down from the north.
It’s energy. Israel has the 4th largest economy and is the 10th most powerful nation.its a pretty big hook in the jaw. The economic reason is there. Now they just need a political reason to justify acting militarily.
