What if God's call isn't about finding extraordinary people, but ordinary people willing to answer?

One line from Sunday's sermon keeps echoing in my mind: "The question was never, 'Am I worthy enough?' The question was, 'Will I answer?'"

God already knows our weaknesses and imperfections. The surprising thing is that God calls anyway.

If that idea stirs something in you, I invite you to listen to the full sermon.

Today was a singing Sunday at Lincoln Park-Lynnwood United Methodist Church, and so we didn’t have a regular sermon. But I wanted to share a message of encouragement and support for those who follow along with us here. I hope this helps in some way.

Maybe the deeper miracle of Pentecost is not speaking, but hearing.

In a noisy world full of arguments, assumptions, and people talking past one another, that line has stayed with me this week. Sometimes the holiest thing we can do is slow down long enough to truly listen—to God, and to each other.

I shared a few reflections on that in this week’s message if you’d like to read or listen.

The disciples stood looking upward after Jesus ascended, and the angels asked, “Why do you stand looking up into heaven?”

Maybe that question still speaks to us.

The church began with ordinary people gathered in prayer, uncertainty, and hope. As we reflected this Sunday, “We are not merely readers of the story. We are part of the story.”

If you’d like, you can listen to the full sermon or read more in this week’s post.

Paul walked into a city full of idols and arguments, but he didn’t begin with condemnation. He began with connection.

People listen differently when they feel seen instead of targeted.

That feels worth remembering in a world where so many conversations turn into battlefields.

This week’s message reflects on Acts 17 and what faithful witness might look like when we choose curiosity before conquest. If you’d like, you can listen to the full sermon here.

We often think faithfulness means doing more, trying harder, staying busy. But what if that’s not the whole picture?

Sometimes when we seek to do the right thing, we may miss the moment.

This week’s reflection sits in the tension between action and attention and what it might mean to let Christ order both.

If that resonates, you’re invited to listen to the full message.

“We didn’t just look at the letters. We traced them until they shaped how we write.”

It makes me wonder: what patterns shape us now?

When life presses in, we don’t usually stop to think. We respond. And those responses say more about what we’ve been tracing than we might realize.

There’s a quieter, deeper way we’re invited to learn.

If you’d like to sit with that for a few minutes, I hope you’ll listen to the full reflection.
