🌿 Devotional: "Lean In"
Scripture:
"He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 'Father, if You are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from Me. Yet I want Your will to be done, not Mine.' Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened Him. He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground."
— Luke 22:41–44 (NLT)
🔥 Thought for Today:
Earnest prayer is not soft or polite. It’s real. It’s raw. It’s the kind of prayer that comes when life hurts and you don’t have fancy words—just a heavy heart.
When Jesus prayed in the garden, He didn’t hold back. He leaned in with everything He had. And God leaned in too. Heaven responded. Strength came.
To pray earnestly means to lean in—not just toward God, but onto Him. It’s trusting that He can hold you when you’re weak, tired, or scared.

🧠 Leaning In Means Trusting Who We Lean On
Leaning in shows who we trust. It’s not about having strong faith—it’s about putting your full weight on God, even when you feel like falling apart. Jesus didn’t just pray in pain—He prayed through it. And that kind of prayer gets God’s attention.

📖 Story: The Bridge and the Boy
Eli was a young boy who lived in a village between two mountains. A rope bridge connected his home to the other side, where his grandfather lived—a kind man full of wisdom.
One day, a storm came. The wind was strong, and the bridge shook. Eli needed to cross, but he was scared. He stood at the edge and whispered, “Grandpa, help me.” But the wind was too loud.
Then he remembered something his grandfather once said: “If you ever need me, lean in.”
So Eli stepped onto the bridge. Not because he was brave, but because he was desperate. He grabbed the ropes, leaned into the wind, and cried out—not with perfect words, but with all his heart.
His grandfather heard him—not just the sound, but the struggle. He ran to the edge, threw a rope, and pulled Eli across.
Later, Eli asked, “How did you hear me in the storm?”
His grandfather smiled, “I didn’t just hear your voice—I felt your lean.”

🙏 Reflection:
- Are you praying with your whole heart, or just saying words?
- What pain or fear do you need to bring to God today?
- What would it look like to lean in and trust Him fully?
Prayer:
God, help me lean in. Not with fancy words, but with real faith. I trust that when I lean in, You lean in too. Give me strength when I feel weak, and help me pray with honesty and courage. Amen.
