If it's been a while since you've been here, you'll be a bit surprised by the Cumberland Ave. upgrades!

Cumberland Avenue between 17th and 22nd streets has been transformed into a safer, more pedestrian-friendly corridor with new utility infrastructure, wider sidewalks, improved traffic flow, a raised median and left-turn lanes at intersections.

There are many great organizations to give to, today. Advent House is certainly one!

But we'd also like to encourage everyone to give to those not too far from us who've been hurt by the recent fires. Local YMCAs are accepting donations, among other entities.

One of the best parts of my day so far was meeting the Chrispens brothers. I spotted these orange shirts wondering up the driveway. There was a lot of pointing and picture taking. The house was of great interest and I assumed these gentlemen were UT employees doing some sort of inspection.

But no, they are Advent House alums heading home from the big Bristol game. They helped turn the garage into the apartments some 25/30-ish years ago. They have good memory after good memory of this place and were sure they wouldn't find it standing with all the parking lots around that used to be houses.

It was my great pleasure to follow their excited steps through the house and hear what used to be what. I couldn't be happier right now and very grateful to be part of not just a house but a ministry, a home, a place of growth and walking with Jesus...that's still standing.

This makes yesterday's water leak a drop in the bucket.

Alumni, stop by anytime. There's nothing as uniquely energizing as your smiles and memory lane explorations. 💛
