What is an Archpriest?

An archpriest (Greek: archiereus, Slavonic: protoierej) is:
a fully ordained priest,
who has been elevated by his bishop,
to a higher honorary rank,
because of experience, leadership, or long service.
It is the highest rank a married priest can receive in the Byzantine tradition.
