In most dioceses of the United States, the Church will celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi this year on Sunday, June 7, following the traditional rhythm of the calendar shortly after Trinity Sunday.

The feast, instituted in 1264 by Pope Urban IV, highlights the Church’s faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. “Corpus Christi” is Latin for “Body of Christ,” drawing our attention to Christ truly present under the appearances of bread and wine.

Throughout history, deep devotion to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has marked the lives of the saints; by following their example, we too can grow in love for Jesus present in the Eucharist and strengthen our friendship with him through his Body and Blood.

Pope Leo XIV has released his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, a major teaching document on artificial intelligence, human dignity, and life in a digital age. In it, he addresses everything from children’s use of smartphones and doomscrolling to autonomous weapons, algorithmic injustice, and why no machine can ever define what it means to be a person created in the image of God.
For a quick overview, here are 15 key quotes that capture some of its most important insights.

Consider participating in a fellowship (social) event at our parish or invite someone you see regularly at Church out for coffee or brunch after Mass.

Better knowing and honoring our Mother Mary draws us closer to her and her son, Jesus. The Catholic Church has dedicated numerous feast days throughout the year to events in the life of Mary and her various titles. The following are some of the feasts of Mary in the month of May:

-- Feast of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament (May 13): Mary was called Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament by St. Peter Julian Eymard in 1868.

-- Feast of Our Lady of Fatima (also May 13): This feast commemorates the first of six apparitions of Mary to three shepherd children at Fatima in Portugal on May 13, 1917.

-- Feast of Mary, Help of Christians (May 24): After praying to Mary for his safe release from captivity when taken prisoner by the French, Pope Pius VII instituted this feast day in 1815.

-- Feast of the Visitation (May 31): Originally celebrated in July, the feast of the Visitation marks Luke's Gospel account of Mary, having been told by the Angel Gabriel that she would bear the son of God, visiting her cousin Elizabeth.

Today the Church honors St. Philip Neri, who was known for using humor to build morale and encourage the people he served, especially the young people. He was known for saying, “Nothing in this world is to be taken seriously, nothing except the salvation of a soul.”
