This week's scripture: Matthew 18:15-20
Devo: Conflict

Conflict, it’s a part of life. We are all involved in conflicts from time to time. But as Christians we are called to resolve conflict with peace and reconciliation. When a conflict happens, we have an opportunity to show God’s love and bring healing instead of pain.

When we face a conflict, we need to look inside to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in our hearts and guides our lives, if we let the Spirit do it. We should strive to show empathy, to see the conflict from the others point of view. The goal is not to win the argument, but to build a bridge between the two conflicting parties so the broken relationship can be restored. This requires patience, grace and a willingness to listen.

Using God’s guidance empowers us to respond with love and wisdom. We need to pray that our egos and pride can be laid down, so that we can extend forgiveness and pursue peace. Through our peacemaking efforts, we reflect the character of Christ and become agents of his reconciliation in a broken world.
