Dear Friends, we will put the bad news first: at our current income and expenditure rate, FUM will not have sufficient operating funds to remain open by July of 2026. We understand that this may come as shocking news, and we’re taking some actions to improve the situation. Keep reading to learn mo...

In our Bible Study last Sunday, we read two passages from the prophets -- one before the Babylonian captivity, and the second during the 'second temple' period.

What stood out is the sin condemned in the community was the same. Neither prophets, nor captivity, nor return changed. Both passages called the people to do better, though they did the same.

We also sin in the same ways as those who are before us. The prophets ring true today, not because they predicted what we are doing, but because they describe human sin both then and now. Our sin in our own undoing - may we repent and find the salvation Christ offers.

Christ is risen. Resurrection changes everything. The worst Tiberius can do is kill somebody. Christ stood by and let Rome do her worst, after a day of hopelessness Christ woke and is eating with the disciples, giving a few more lessons.
Now there is the hope that we also will wake from that long sleep -- there is hope that death is not the end.
The hard part of this is that we thought Christ would replace Tiberius rather than neutralize his power over us. We thought everything would be the same with different people on top -- but he tells us to be part of a different kingdom with different rules and different methods. The kingdom of heaven isn't about the worst one can do to dominate others -- it's about the best one can do to raise them up.

Cuts in Foreign Aid Affect FUM Projects Abroad

The Friends United Meeting office in Kisumu, Kenya, is situated in a hub for the Centers for Disease Control, as well as for many non-govermental organizations (NGOs), relief, and economic development agencies that are doing tremendous work throughout Africa. The recent executive order to suspend U.S. foreign aid has a direct impact in Kisumu and the world, including programs under the care of Friends United Meeting.

‍Recently, FUM General Secretary Kelly Kellum wrote to the U.S. President to express his concern over how the halt in U.S. foreign aid is affecting our Quaker brothers and sisters in other countries. You can find his letter here: https://bit.ly/FUMLETTER

Please consider Ramallah Friends School and Friends Lugulu Mission Hospital in your prayers and with your financial support. Online donations are received for both ministries at https://www.friendsunitedmeeting.org/giving/donate.

Today we read the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-8), and we discussed it as a sermon. We also discussed how Jesus taught us to live in community with each other, especially in those times we don't get along.

It is amazing how practical and down-to-earth Jesus is sometimes. Life works better if we do things right by our neighbors.
