We celebrated the lighting of the last candle on the Hanukiah yesterday. We had a party with dreidels, food and gifts! So much fun! It's unusual for a Sunday service, but we enjoyed the fellowship and the reason Hanukkah is important to us. Jesus is the Light of the World 🕎

Wow! The menorah candles burned differently during our service, the third candle, Reverence burning on the same wick in two different places. I've never seen this happen before. A double portion of Reverence is awesome!

Today, the 4th day of Hanukkah we read the story of Hanukkah from 1st Maccabees chapter 3 & 4. The war lasted for 3 years. If you have access to the books of the Maccabees you will think you are reading today's news stories.
I set the stage up with the soldier just after Yom Kippur. I wanted to focus on the armor of God, little did I know a war would happen on the last and greatest day of Feast of Tabernacles.
Usually there is a 7 candle Menorah where the Hanukkiah is.
We know God has a plan for those who love Him.
As we watch the Jews in their military clothes celebrating what God did over 2000 years ago, lighting the candles, praying the prayers and singing the hymns as rockets and gunfire are evident in the background, I am reminded of their hope! God is with them and a Great Miracle happened HERE!

Us humans have a propensity for worry. We fret about things, even things we can do nothing to control.

Worry is a subtle form of idolatry. When we worry about things in a way that steals our joy, we're actually believing that thing has more power than God—that somehow God won't be able to control the situation like He promises he will.

In marriage there are many instances where things are out of our control. The actions of our spouse, financial stress, children and their choices...you name it.

We humans are idol factories; we worry about things we should never worry about.

There is much freedom in truly believing in God's sovereignty. We're praying you experience the extraordinary freedom that only faith in Jesus brings.

May the gospel wash over every area of your life and marriage!
