Happy Easter, or should I say Eostre? You might wonder what a chicken, a rabbit, and colored eggs have to do with Christianity. Well, actually nothing. Eostre, an ancient Germanic or Anglo-Saxon goddess associated with dawn, spring, and fertility. Her name is the linguistic root for the modern word "Easter". Eostre was said to have found a wounded bird and transformed it into a hare to save its life. In gratitude, the hare continued to lay colored eggs for the goddess
