“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Your kids are at the age when they are exploring, discovering, and learning so many new things. They are learning the truth that God sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment we deserve for sin and to make the way for us to have a relationship with God forever. Know that each time you engage in conversations about Jesus with your kids (even when you do not know all the answers), you are helping them know and grow in Him. They—and you—can be confident that God loves your conversations and your faith.

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: How would you answer if someone asked, “Can kids tell people about Jesus?” What are some things you know about Jesus that you could share with other people?

Play a fun guessing game that only needs some headphones and music. Invite your kids to put on some headphones and play some fun music. Quietly tell your kids a message, such as, “I love you!” or “Sharing Jesus is important.” Continue repeating the phrase, allowing your kids to guess what you are saying. Change roles and play again. Talk about how it was not easy to guess, but it was important to keep trying. Similarly, it is not always easy to share Jesus. However, the truth about who Jesus is and why He came is so important. We can keep sharing Jesus even when it is challenging.

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: How can the Bible story encourage you when you are worried how people might respond when you share Jesus? How can you be brave and respectful when you share Jesus?

Kids learned this week that sharing Jesus is important. In Acts 13–21, a disciple named Paul started following Jesus. He traveled around and shared Jesus with different people in different places. He knew—and we can know—that sharing Jesus is important because Jesus is the One who made the way for us to have a relationship with God. As you travel to different places with your kids this week, take a moment to pray for God to help you see opportunities to share Jesus in those places. Sharing Jesus is important, and we can share Him everywhere we go.

Come up with different categories as a family, such as foods, animals, games, and so forth. Direct one person to share one word that matches that category. Then the next person must say another word in that category that starts with the last letter of the previous word. Keep playing until each player has shared three words or until someone gets stumped. When you finish, talk about how words carry power, and we can ask God to help us use words that build others up and honor God.

In FirstKIDS this week we learned that our words have power! In James 3, he wrote that our tongues have the power to praise or curse God and to build others up or tear them down. God can work through our words to show His love and share truth with others. Kids learned that, when it is difficult to control our words, we can ask God for help. Celebrate when your kids use words to build others up and be intentional to use words to build them up as well. Share that God can work through our words to encourage and point others to Him.

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.” John 6:38

Kids are at the age when they are testing and discovering boundaries. It is not always easy for them to obey and follow through. Honestly, it is not always easy for us, as adults, either. But we can remember the example of Jesus, who gave up everything to follow the will of God. Jesus helps us know that we are called to live not for ourselves but for God. As you trust and follow God, you are helping your kids see that this is the way we were made to live.

This week, take 1 day to ask these 2 questions and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Can we think whatever we want as long as we do not say or do wrong things, and why? How can it make a difference in our lives when we set our minds and thoughts on God?
