We look at one thing and immediately decide:
W**d.
Flower.
Beautiful.
Unwanted.
Worthy.
Unworthy.
We make our judgments from what we can see.
But we rarely see the whole thing.
We don't know the story behind someone else's choices.
We don't know what they've survived.
We don't know what they're carrying.
We don't know what God is doing in their life.
And honestly, we don't always know the whole story behind our own lives, either.
A dandelion is a good reminder of that.
Some people see something that needs to be pulled out.
Others see a little burst of sunshine growing wherever it pleases.
The dandelion hasn't changed.
Only the way we see it has.
And maybe people are a little like that, too.
Maybe the person we've decided doesn't belong is someone God is still growing.
Maybe the person we don't understand is walking a road we know nothing about.
Maybe the person we've labeled unworthy is someone God calls beloved.
So before we spend too much time examining somebody else's walk, perhaps we should pay a little more attention to our own.
Because Scripture asks us a pretty humbling question:
“Who are you to judge someone else’s servant?”
Romans 14:4
We aren't given the whole story.
God is.
So perhaps our job isn't to decide who belongs, who is worthy, or where someone else stands with God.
Our job is simply to love, give grace, and tend to our own steps.
