The Refuge

The Refuge Join us on Sat. evenings for bible study at Panera's in the Loop. What a joy it is to introduce you to our church!

You'll discover that our passion is to provide a place where people just like you can have a life-changing experience with God. At The Refuge, our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. We are a life-giving, multicultural church and our goal is to infuse life and God's love into people and families through engaging, powerful wor

ship services that offer biblical truth in relevant and practical ways. Together, we're striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there's relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we'd like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time. So, if you are still just checking out the "church scene" and investigating the claims of Jesus Christ, thank you for allowing us to help you in your search. Or, if you are a committed Christ-follower who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at The Refuge Church.

Friendships aren't built in a day.
They grow through time spent together.

A conversation here. A quiet moment there. A willingness to slow down and simply be present.
The same is true with God.

Sometimes we look for Him in the big moments, but often He meets us in the gentle ones—the morning quiet, the evening breeze, the stillness after a busy day.

This week, may we make room for friendship with God.

Not because we have to.
Because we want to.

"Could you not watch with Me one hour?"

Sometimes the greatest blessing isn't having all the answers.

It's knowing you're not walking through life alone.
God places people in our lives to encourage us, pray for us, laugh with us, and remind us of His love.

And through every season, Jesus remains the friend who never leaves our side.

So as this new week begins, take comfort in knowing that whatever lies ahead, you don't have to face it alone.

You've got a Friend in Jesus.

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13

Heavenly Father,

As this Sunday comes to a close, I am grateful that I do not walk through life's challenges alone. You are not a distant God. You are my Friend, my Comforter, my Provider, and my Strength.

Tonight, I lay my worries at Your feet. The things I can control and the things I cannot. The questions, the waiting, the uncertainty, and the burdens I have carried for too long.

Help me lean into our friendship and trust You more than my fears. When anxiety whispers, remind me that You are near. When I am tired, remind me that You are my strength. When I am uncertain, remind me that You are already ahead of me preparing the way.

I speak peace over my mind and my heart. I choose faith over fear, hope over worry, and trust over doubt.

I pray against sickness and discouragement. I pray against financial stress and overwhelming burdens. I pray for healing where healing is needed, provision where provision is needed, and restoration where relationships need Your touch.

Most of all, Lord, help me remember that no matter what tomorrow brings, I belong to You. You have never left me, and You will not start now.

Thank You for being the Friend who stays, the Friend who listens, and the Friend who carries me when I am weary.

As I close my eyes tonight, I place tomorrow and the days ahead safely in Your hands.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Psalm 56:3

As we head into the weekend, I'm grateful for the people God has placed along the way.

The friends who listen. The family who loves us. The people who encourage us when life gets hard.
These relationships are gifts, reminders that we were never meant to walk alone.

Take a moment today to celebrate the people who make your life better.

They're simply the best. 🤍

Faith doesn’t always mean having the whole map.

Sometimes it simply means trusting the current and following where God leads.

Let the river run.

“Whoever believes in me… rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38

Life rarely follows the map we planned.

Through every season, every detour, and every new beginning, God keeps leading us exactly where we need to be.

Even when we don’t understand the road ahead, we can trust the One guiding us through it.

Where He leads, I will follow. 🤍

Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Everyone has a story.

Every chapter holds joy, heartbreak, healing, waiting, hope.

And through it all, God is present in every page we thought He forgot.

This week, we trust the Author of our story.

“This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21

Sometimes we look for God in the huge moments and miss Him in the small ones.

The unexpected text.
The closed door that protected you.
The timing that made no sense until later.
The strength that showed up right when you needed it.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23

This week was proof that God lives in the details.
Not one prayer wasted.
Not one tear unseen.

Not one step outside His care.
Even when we couldn’t see the full picture, He was already writing the next line.

Rest tonight knowing the same God who carried you this week is already in your tomorrow.

Some weeks don’t go according to plan.
The timing shifts. The details feel scattered.

But God is still in the details.

He is present in the interruptions, the pauses, the delays, and the small moments we almost miss.

If your week feels unfinished, remember this: God has not lost track of you.

God, help us notice You in the details today.
Not only in the big moments, but in the small ones too.
Teach us to trust that even when our plans shift, You are still present, still working, and still faithful.

Amen.
