AWE IS Love of the true God inside your heart.
Michelangelo is one of the few people in history whose work has spanned the centuries with no need for a last name. Hundreds of his surviving works of art — including sculptures, paintings, and drawings — don’t even bear an artist’s mark. That’s because the artist only ever signed one piece, the Madonna della Pietà, and his doing so likely stemmed from misplaced credit.

Michelangelo was commissioned to sculpt the Pietà in the late 1490s. As he was just 24 years old at the time, it was one of his earliest projects, and a piece that helped launch him into the spotlight. The sculpture, which was created as a funeral monument for French Cardinal Jean de Bilhères, depicts the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus following the Crucifixion. The young artist sculpted the piece from one cut of marble and finished the job in under two years. According to fellow Renaissance artist and friend Giorgio Vasari, Michelangelo’s statue initially bore no indication of its creator, but the artist supposedly changed his mind after overhearing his work credited to a rival; he snuck back to chisel his name prominently onto the sash across Mary’s chest.

Shame at the rash decision likely kept Michelangelo from signing his future works of art, though the artist did find other ways of inserting his likeness into his work. In the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo imposed his own features onto St. Bartholomew — who was skinned alive — possibly as a joke meant to share his disdain for the physically grueling project.

Gratitude is a foundation upon which to rest like a child seeking safety. Each of us has trusted all that we possess to come to this space with our sacred precious time energy for the betterment of life.
The past hour had each person trust and overcome so many barriers to allow the compassionate release necessary for silence to sweep our souls like little fish into the tender embrace of divinity.
As we have practiced let go of our ego needs we learn the power of forgiveness.
Tender touches of precious deeds have been forgotten in those thin walls of hope.
In May of 1989 I spent most early mornings in despair seeking to fill the hole I found in me. I had begun a healing intense journey in March 16 1985 to learn so many ACA and Al Anon concepts. The workaholic behaviors had given me great success and wealth having been raised in extreme poverty and abandonment that terrified me.
I would walk the rail road track from my home on East Monroe Avenue and walk to the 645AM Recovery Room two blocks from here praying for understanding and forgiveness of everything and everyone I had ever hurt.
Finally I found myself offered the opportunity to invest my time and money in founding Contemplative Outreach by Thomas Keating.
For one hour I experienced my first sit.
The ten humans that joined me were just amazing.
I was hooked from the first time in this mans voice, hugs, heart, smile and eyes.
Having been raised without a dad he was easy to like.
I found my essence swept into a spiritual whirlpool similar to body surfing the oceans of Fort Lauderdale. Stored grace just had me addicted. I spent the next few years just learning everything I could. A year later I started to teach the practice to children in the inner city school I was privileged to lead as its principal.
I have spent most of the past thirty years finding so much communication with the tenderness of the intelligent presence inside me and others.
The powerful healing revealing hope in the eyes of each other.
Letting go the stress and distress of modern life.
I over think and over act.,surrendering to this powerfully playful presence allows me to work the steps with an abundance of joy. I am Shoeless Joe the mystic monk of Kirkwood made crippled as a baby from abuse and misuse from foolish neglect. Walking is painful unless I keep my mind on gratitude forgiveness and love of others.
God bless you and may we continue to have the courage to listen to divinity in ourselves and each other with a gentle acceptance of need for kindness and acceptance as we discover the wonderment God has planned for us through and with each other.

These times have certainly accelerated the life teachings of: patience, non-attachment, "who we are when things don't go our way," and how to go with the flow. The unexpected brings those to the forefront of our reality and then we truly have the opportunity to put all of our learnings, insights, and personal growth into practice.
