Operation Barnabas is a network of care to our nation's military members and their families. We reach out to all components, with a special emphasis on our Reserve members and their families. On this day, the Church remembers Saint Barnabas — the namesake of our ministry to Veterans, service members and their families: Operation Barnabas.

You might wonder: Why “Barnabas?” Barnabas was the faithful companion of the Apostle Paul on his missionary journeys. His name means “Son of Encouragement.” That’s exactly what we strive to be.

Operation Barnabas is the LCMS’ network of care, offering encouragement, support, and the love of Christ in action to those who have served our Nation, those who currently serve, and their families. Thank you to all who have answered the call to protect and defend our country. We see you, we honor your service, and we stand ready to encourage and walk alongside you.
