Its symbol of the chalice emphasizes the central place of communion in worship, as well as the Scottish Presbyterian roots to the denomination (the cross of St. Disc

iples confess their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and seek unity among all. What to Expect:

- Worship would best be described as traditional, i.e., hymns, prayers, a biblical sermon, and the celebration of Holy Communion (the bread and individual cups are passed out in the pews).

- Holy Communion and baptism are open to all who feel called to follow Christ. Baptism occurs once in a person’s life, usually by immersion in our denomination (but we do not rebaptize those baptized as infants). Communion occurs weekly and is open to all followers of Christ.

- Children are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary for a Children’s Moment, followed by an extended session in the educational building (“Children’s Church”) led by adult volunteers.

- A nursery is provided for toddlers and infants by professional attendants.

- We Disciples worship with heart and mind, which is to say, “Your faith and questions are both welcome here.”

- Hospitality is something that we work hard at. You will be made to feel welcome regardless of race, gender, income, education, or social standing.

- Like many churches, you will find Christian education classes, youth groups, fellowship meals, outreach projects, and other opportunities for spiritual growth and service. If you have questions while here, feel free to ask one of the ushers or greeters that are available each Sunday to help. Many thanks to our generous church members for the donation of school supplies and backpacks for Contentnea-Savannah School. We are proud to share that our congregation has been involved with the Hand in Hand Outreach Ministry for more than 20 years with Contentnea Elementary School and then with Contentena-Savannah, when the new school was built to house Kindergarten through Grade 8. The Rev. Annelle George-McLawhorn blessed these supplies and prayed for the students, teachers, and parents of Contentnea-Savannah School. They were delivered the week before students arrived back on campus. The school is thankful for the community support! We hope the students and teachers of Contentnea-Savannah had a great first week back and wish them a wonderful, safe, and productive year ahead!🍎📚❤️
