2. LISTENING SESSIONS ON PROPOSED REDUCTION OF DISTRICTS
At the June 6th Annual Conference meeting, the conference will vote on legislation to reduce the number of districts from five to four. Our District Superintendent Stan Irvin has said that over the past several years our Conference has significantly shrunk, with many churches closing or departing, so the number of congregations and pastors in each district is now far smaller than it used to be. Because of that, reducing from five districts to four isn’t a step backward—it simply reflects our new size and will actually make the workload more with fewer churches.
To provide more detail with time for questions, the following sessions are available:
• Monday, April 20, 6:30pm, Benton First UMC
• Wednesday, April 22, 6pm, Online via Zoom
Pastors Carol and Mike will be heading to the session in Benton, which will also include our regular Pastor's district meeting. We would be happy to bring anyone along! A recording of the April 9 session is available at:
