This Sunday, May 24th, 9am, we will celebrate Pentecost, the birthday of the Church. There will be birthday balloons, Pentecost birthday cake, a diversity of languages and some special visitors named Eldad and Medad. They can’t wait to meet you! Let’s give them a warm (hopefully not too warm weather-wise) welcome!

Holy Week at Immanuel (March 30-April 5):

7pm HOLY WEDNESDAY Stations of the Cross. We will stop by each of the Stations around the church to reflect on the steps of Jesus's final week in Jerusalem.

7pm HOLY THURSDAY This is the night Jesus first shared Communion with his first disciples. We will hear a variety of reflections on Holy Communion and sing hymns about Holy Communion and share Holy Communion. This year, we will not have a foot or hand washing.

7pm GOOD FRIDAY We will worship and reflect on the connections between the story of Jesus’s betrayal, suffering and violent death and the similar stories that close in upon us in our own time. The sanctuary slowly darkens as the story of Jesus’s passion is read and candles are extinguished.

9am EASTER SUNDAY On Easter, God pulls out all the stops and so will we with special Easter music including a trumpet and drums. Invite your family and friends! We will have fun activities for children available and Easter baskets for them. Following our festive Easter Sunday worship, we will enjoy a festive Easter Breakfast/Brunch! If you can bring something delicious to share that would be great! There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the church. It will help our planning if you sign up to say that you will attend. This Sunday, we meet a family beloved of Jesus- Mary, Martha and their brother, Lazarus, whom Jesus will raise up from death. Notice the man pictured near the tomb wearing a yellow cloak-holding his nose! “Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days.” says Martha. There is so much in our world that stinks. We can each make our own list, but our gospel does not end in a stink. Come join one ancient beloved family at the tomb knowing that you are part of God's beloved family today!
