St. James is often called “The Green Church That Helps!” We are a growing, vital congregation made up of a diverse group of people of all ages, from all walks of life. We celebrate our enormous opportunity to both love those in the church and those outside our walls, as Jesus asks us to do. We emphasize working with children, serving and serving alongside our neighbors, inviting others to make a positive difference, and welcoming all who want to worship God. The purpose of the St. James United Methodist Church is to “bear witness to the community and to the world that the Word of God is Alive through worship, Christ-centered education, nurture, fellowship, and sharing our gifts and service.”

Our Staff:
We’re blessed to have a wonderful full-time pastor, a full-time director of community ministries, a part-time director of children and youth ministries, and a deacon. Reverend Robert Milsom has been our pastor since 2017, and is here to welcome, lead us in worship, nurture and growth as a beloved community in Christ. Deacon David Clegg is a lawyer and divinity school graduate. He works with both pastors on issues of injustice, is part of numerous charities in the community, he coaches basketball, and teaches Bible studies. Director of Children and Youth Ministry Rebecca Leibowitz works with the church to provide a safe sanctuary for children to experience spirituality through Godly Play storytelling, Messy Church, fellowship, and service projects.

Here are a few photos from celebrating Pentecost and Trinity Sunday in Sunday School! Students presented a joyful Pentecost poem with dance scarves at worship on Pentecost.
,
Yesterday, on Trinity Sunday, they helped guide and rearrange Godly Play story pieces for four stories that help us understand gifts from God and ways of being with God. They worked with the Creation Story, Faces of Easter (7 key stories from Jesus' life), Paul's Letters and Travels, and Baptism/The Trinity. We started out with story pieces arranged in straight lines. Then students guided the rearranging of them, as they discussed how these gifts from God were connected to each other. Everything was connected by the three circles representing God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Our last two Sunday School sessions for this term will be on June 14 and June 28 at 9 AM. If you have any questions, feel free to email Pastor Rebecca at [email protected].

* Reminder: This Saturday, June 6 is the June Messy Church with Cereal Box Dominoes! Come join the fun at 4 PM! *
