The word hope is often confused for wishful thinking.
However, the biblical sense of hope is very different. Hope, in the Bible, exists as a secure assurance, a trust placed in a trustworthy God. God has not failed us in the past, and therefore, if he claims he will do something in the future, we can have a hope that he will fulfill that claim.

Hope waits and endures. It isn’t flimsy or merely wishful thinking. It can withstand fire, trials, and despair.

This Advent season we can rest in the hope that Our Savior IS coming again, just as he came before.

And the prophecy was spoken by Isaiah

" Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."
Isaiah 7:14

"When we find ourselves in a particularly difficult season in life, slow becomes necessary.

Of course, I realize none of us can just quit everything when life falls apart. But we can quit some things.

Perhaps it’s TV and social media.

Maybe we need to cut out reading things online and choose to read God’s Word more than ever before.

We can even cut through the deafening silence of emptiness in our life by filling our home with praise music.

Where do you need to invite a little more slow into your life right now, sweet friend? How can you purposefully quiet down all the outside noise so God’s voice can become the loudest voice in your life?

This is something I’ve had to learn to do in my own life. And I’ve found God’s Word to be so true. When you draw near to God, He draws near to you."

Four women: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. One had affairs, one was a pr******te, one lied, one was an adulteress... none of them were starry eyed perfect princesses. Four broken women. And yet God chose them... these four broken women, to be grandmothers in Jesus’ family tree. He crowned them with grace and love. Queens for His kingdom.
Today you may feel broken. You may feel like an outsider, a has-been, a never-been. Weary of being taken advantage of, of being unnoticed, uncherished, and unappreciated. Like you don’t fit in, like you don’t know how to keep going, or what to believe, or where to go. You may feel like you want to give up.
And yet God chooses you. He grafts you into His line, His story, and His heart. He gives you His name, His lineage, and His righteousness. He calls you His very own.

Have you ever noticed how in the scriptures men are always going up into the mountains to commune with the Lord?

Yet in the scriptures we hardly ever
hear of women going to the mountains.
But we know why — right?

Because the women were too busy
keeping life going;
they couldn’t abandon babies,
meals,
homes,
fires,
gardens,
and a thousand responsibilities to make the climb into the mountains!

I was talking to a friend the other day,
saying that as modern woman
I feel like I’m never “free” enough
from my responsibilities,
never in a quiet enough space
I want with God.

Her response floored me,
“That is why God comes to women."

I have been pondering on her words for weeks and have searched my scriptures
to see that what she said is true.
God does in deed come to women
where they are,
when they are doing their ordinary,
everyday work.

He meets them at the wells
where they draw water for their families,
in their homes,
in their kitchens,
in their gardens.

He comes to them
as they sit beside sickbeds,
as they give birth,
care for the elderly,
and perform necessary mourning and burial rites.

Even at the empty tomb,
Mary was the first to witness Christ’s resurrection,
She was there because she was doing the womanly chore of properly preparing Christ’s body for burial.

In these seemingly mundane
and ordinary tasks,
these women of the scriptures found themselves face to face with divinity.

So if — like me — you ever start to bemoan the fact that you don’t have as much time to spend in the mountains with God as you would like. Remember, God comes to women. He knows where we are and the burdens we carry. He sees us, and if we open our eyes and our hearts we will see Him, even in the most ordinary places and in the most ordinary things.

He lives. And he’s using a time such as this to speak to women around the world.
