This week's Scripture comes from Luke 9:28-36:
(28) And it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
(29) And as He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.
(30) Then behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,
(31) who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
(32) But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.
(33) And it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah" - not knowing what he said.
(34) While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud.
(35) Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!"
(36) And when the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

Jesus revealed His glory on the mountain top at the transfiguration. So, what did the disciples learn from this event? Peter, James, and John were the "inner circle" of Jesus. They saw the change in Jesus. "This is My beloved Son." In front of the three disciples, Moses, and Elijah, God accepted Jesus as His Son.

Moses represented the law.
Elijah represented the prophets.
Jesus came to fulfill both of them.

While they were there, Moses and Elijah spoke to Jesus about His coming death, what was about to happen. Jesus already knew this, but they reaffirmed it. Three things happened there that day:

1. Glory - His glory was revealed and affirmed
2. Instruction - He was reminded of what to do (for us!)
3. Acceptance - Jesus acknowledged His work and readied Himself

If you look back at Exodus, chapters 33 and 34, you will read the story of Moses asking God to show him His glory. He only saw God's hindquarters, but just that much made Moses shine so bright he had to cover himself.

Glory revealed - Instruction given - Acceptance of God's glory.....again!

In 1 Kings 19, Elijah was called by God to come to the mountain. There were high winds, fire, an earthquake. Then a still, small voice revealed God to Elijah. God wasn't in the wind, the fire, or the earthquake; He came in a still, small voice.

Glory revealed - Instruction given - Acceptance of God's glory....again!

Going back to Luke's story of Jesus, the three disciples saw the glory of Jesus Christ. They heard God's voice. A mountaintop experience should include these three elements:

1. Glory - we must experience the glory of God so we can tell others
2. Instruction - the Bible gives us personal instruction
3. Acceptance - we've been accepted by God through Jesus Christ

BUT...
even this type of experience is not enough. There has to be more. We can't stay on the mountaintop all the time. We have to go through the valleys, and we have to deal with the real world. So we need more.

We need truth to rely on, doctrine to follow, we need to search the Bible so we can hear God speaking to us. And we need to have an attitude to remember that Jesus came for the lives of even those who come against us. Recognize Him as the beloved Son and hear Him speak to you.

Why do I need to read the Bible if I've been on the mountaintop? The mountaintop is an experience, not doctrine or action. Experience tells us there is a great view out there that's worth going to see; doctrine is the gps that tells us how to get there and shows us the way; and action is us actually going to see it, putting forth the effort.

So wait to be called to the mountaintop; pray, "God, I want to be in Your presence!" Ask Him for that. Talk to Him, meditate on Him. Look for God, observe His glory no matter how it's revealed.

Be relaxed, feel safe in His presence. Hear Him - read the red letters in the Bible, study them, and you'll have a plan of action.

Today's Scripture begins in Luke 6:27-31:
(27) "But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
(28) "bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
(29) "To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.
(30) "Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.
(31) "And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise."

Does God take care of you, or are you trying to take care of yourself?

We are called or commanded to do these things:
1. Love
2. Bless
3. Pray
4. Do good
5. Offer the other cheek
6. Give more
7. Do unto others

We do these things to those who love us, but would you do these things to strangers? If it was someone at your bank, or a kind stranger, that would be no problem. But.....Jesus says to do these things to:
1. Enemies
2. Those who hate you
3. Those who curse you
4. Those who use you
5. Those who strike you
6. Those who steal from you
7. Those who take and won't give back

That's more difficult, because we think: they don't deserve kind treatment. That's our nature as humans. But God sees when these things are unfair, and we get taken advantage of. So how can we do good to those who don't deserve it? And why? What is Jesus' reason for this?

Let's read on, verses 32-36:
(32) "But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
(33) "And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
(34) "And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back.
(35) "But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.
(36) "Therefore me merciful, just as your Father also is merciful."

Take a second and think of someone who really aggravates you. Think about God and how He sees us. When did we think about what He wants or needs from us? He gives to us even when we don't do right.

We are called to do more as believers. More than the unsaved do. Above and beyond. God gave His Son while we were sinners! We are called to live worthy of His love.

Just remember, God will make it right for you, on earth or in Heaven. Those who give the most will have more rewards waiting for them in Heaven. Are you willing to put the time in to do this? Use God's attitude, not the world's. He loved us when we were unfaithful and evil; not just those who deserved it, but for those of us who didn't and don't deserve it.

When we do things God's way, we see the plan in Psalm 37:1-11:
(1) Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
(2) For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
(3) Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
(4) Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
(5) Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
(6) He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
(7) Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
(8) Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret - it only causes harm.
(9) For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
(10) For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; indeed you will look diligently for his place, but it shall be no more.
(11) But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Don't worry about what evil people do. Anything we've done wrong ourselves has 2 options:
1. Eternal life in hell
2. Forgiveness through the cross on Calvary

God will make it right; we don't have to worry about it. God sees it all. So be all in God. Trust in Him, commit your way to Him, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Right now we have to wait, but God will take care of everything and everyone who has done you wrong.

Reading on in Psalm 37, we find this:
(23) The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.
(24) Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.

He delights in what you are doing. He holds us with His right hand. He WILL sustain you, if you do things His way, and do good. Let's read on in verses 39 and 40:
(39) But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble.
(40) And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.

God is our SALVATION, STRENGTH, HELP, and DELIVERER, because we trust in Him. Going back to Luke 35, it's all about loving your enemies.

Will you do it God's way? Be like God? Do like God does to us? Wait patiently; He is in control, and will make everything right.

Today, we read from Romans 7:13-25:
(13) Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.
(14) For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.
(15) For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
(16) If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.
(17) But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
(18) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
(19) For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.
(20) Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
(21) I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.
(22) For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
(23) But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin.
(24) O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
(25) I thank god - through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

What things do you struggle with? Why can't we seem to ever do the right thing? Are you frustrated with how your spiritual life is going?

In verse 13, sin is working against you. Our nature, the human side, is not good. In verses 14 & 15, we see that we can't do the right thing. We keep doing the wrong thing. Does this frustrate you? God is important, we think; I want to do the right thing, but just can't. I hate the things that I'm doing. So what's going on here?

Verses 17 & 18 tell us that we don't have what it takes to carry out the right things we really want to do. We have all the right ideas but not the power to do them. But we are still responsible if we do evil. There is a law of sin. But somewhere deep inside us is a part that wants to do the right thing, to not sin.

Sin is winning over us. We want to do the right thing but we can't. Paul called himself a wretched man. Who will deliver? Who? Jesus Christ, that's who!

Read Romans 8:1-17; there we find the answer. There is no condemnation, no guilt. We don't become better Christians, we rely on Jesus and what He did for us on Calvary. When you believe, you are placed in Jesus Christ. You belong to Him.

Nobody will have a perfect record when we get to Heaven. But, you will NOT be judged guilty, because you belong to Jesus and live under His Spirit! Jesus came to earth in the flesh. He had a human body and could have sinned, but He walked perfectly.

What is your mind set on day to day? The flesh? Or the Spirit, and on heavenly and godly things? Let the sinful nature in you die. Don't feed it and help it grow. As you battle the flesh, you'll feel like you're dying at first, but eventually you will let the Spirit take over and it will not be as painful or stressful. Every time will be easier, the flesh will become weaker and weaker. In the power of the Holy Spirit.

In Galatians 5 we find the things we need to get rid of, and the things we need to hold onto. Verses 19-21 list the evils we need to break away from and try to never do. Verse 22-26 tell us what to hold on to, what to call on Jesus to fill us with. The fruit of the Spirit.

02/10/2025

Today's Scripture was from Psalm 84, verses 1-12:
(1) How lovely is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts!
(2) My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
(3) Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young - even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
(4) Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they will still be praising you. Selah.
(5) Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
(6) As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a spring; the rain also covers it with pools.
(7) They go from strength to strength; every one of them appears before God in Zion.
(8) O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah.
(9) O God, behold our shield, and look upon the face of Your anointed.
(10) For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
(11) For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
(12) O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You!

What do you enjoy the most in life? What makes you happy? Where in all the world would you love to go?

In verse 2, "blessed" means "happy". Does your heart and soul cry out to God? If we bask in the Spirit as He moves, we will feel blessed. After spending time in the presence of God, we will feel as fulfilled as we did from those things we used to do to get happy.

Where do you feel at home the most? Happy are those who dwell in your house. That's God's tabernacle. In the Old Testament, God dwelt in the Holy of Holies. That's where God was. Being in God's house today, do you feel strengthened, ready to take on the world outside? Do you feel blessed, happy?

Now, we are the temple of God. Not a building, but us! The same power that parted the Red Sea, that raised Jesus from the dead. That same God dwells in us today.

Nowhere you can go can compare to the joy of being in the presence of Christ. Solomon had everything imaginable, and said, "This stinks." Without God, it meant nothing to the wisest man who ever lived.

When the Spirit moves, are you taking it in? You have more happiness and pleasure in you than from anything in the world....IF you have the Holy Spirit in you. Nothing compares! True happiness is inside you, in God. Where is your strength? If you want to be happy, ask God to help you be happy. He Himself is our strength. His patience, kindness, wisdom. It's all there for you, if you make it all about Him. Then you will be happy / blessed.

Verse 5, says the "heart is set on pilgrimage." Heaven, not earth. But not so heavenly minded that we're useless on earth. We have to be set on the pilgrimage. Yes, make plans here. But don't be so focused on that to where you forget about your future certainty.

Life is short, eternity is so much bigger. Live your best life but don't take your eyes off the big picture - Heaven. It's better to be a door holder than to not have God. "Happy is the man...."

Are you happy? Is it good enough without God?
Dwell with God.
Be in God's presence.
Wrestle with God; "show me what You want from me".
Ask God to be your strength.
Lean on God!
Trust in God.
Walk upright with Him.

God is the sun and shield to those who walk uprightly.

But how do you get that presence? John 14:23-24 reads:
(23) Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
(24) "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me."

Love God with your life. Keep His Word, and believe it. Then He will come to us and make His home with us. With you. With me.

One last passage, from Acts 19:1-7:
(1) And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples
(2) he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit."
(3) And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism."
(4) Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus."
(5) When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
(6) And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
(7) Now the men were about twelve in all.

To make sure you have everything you need as a Christian, you might need to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to have the Presence in you to dwell in and with with the Holy Spirit.

Today's sermon focused on LOVE. Loving God, and loving your neighbor.

Let's read Mark 12:28-34:
(28) Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"
(29) Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
(30) 'All you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.
(31) "And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
(32) So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He.
(33) "And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."
(34) So when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And after that no one dared question Him.

Sounds easy, doesn't it? The Old Testament was all about these two things. If you did these two things you would have obeyed all those laws. This makes it almost too simple...and yet also difficult.

Love God specifically:
All Your Heart:
With all your affections. Keep it clean, keep it ready, to love God.
All Your Soul:
This is where our opinions come from, where we make judgments from. Is this good or is this bad?
All Your Mind:
These are your thoughts and meditations. Stay focused on Jesus. This guards your mind with things like hope and salvation. We have to keep our minds available to God.
All Your Strength:
Are you loving God with all your actions?

Today we are asking a lot of questions, and it's up to you to fill in the blanks and answer them.

Do you keep your heart right so you can love God?

What do you live with all your heart, that competes with God? If it's not God, it's idolatry.

Do you keep your heart pure?

Will you give your whole heart over to God today?

What kind of decisions are you making today? Righteous decisions? Is your soul righteous?

James 4:17 says:
(17) Therefore, to him who knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Are you praying about the decisions you make? God can do more than we can ask Him for! He can see it all so clearly, so include Him in the decisions you make.

Do you see God as merciful, or as a judge? We are standing in His grace.

What is your opinion on sin? Do you regret when you sin?

What is your opinion on love? Love your enemy, love your neighbor. Do you really believe that?

What's your decision? In your mind, there are thoughts and meditations. What do you think on? What kind of thoughts do you allow in your mind?

Are you battling doubt with faith in your mind? Faith is believing through your doubts. Keep it right so you can love God.

Do you worry too much? What about all of God's promises for you in the Bible?

Are you keeping your mind sharp so you can be strong to serve the Lord?

Do you ever think about how great God is? Elijah was taken up in a chariot of fire; Moses led the Israelites through the Red Sea on dry land.

Ask God to guard your mind, to fight off temptations. Think of God sitting on His throne, watching over us. Imagination is so powerful; try to imagine all of God's great things He has for us.

What about strength? Are you using your greatest strengths for God? It can be organizing, construction, whatever talent or strength you possess - use it for God's glory.

Isaiah 30:15 reads:
(15) For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength...."

Lean on God for all the duties you have to do for the Lord. Just say, "Look, Lord, I've done the best I can, so strengthen me for your work and glory."

Take inventory. Heart - soul - mind- strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. What do you need? How do you reward yourself after a hard work day? What does it take to love your neighbor this way?

1 Corinthians 13:1 says,
(1) Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

It profits you nothing. You must have love in order to be successful. Remember the wind-up monkey that banged a cymbal? It was so annoying, and someone always said, "Please shut that thing up!" That's us without love. It's so crucial!

Further down, in verse 4, it reads,
(4) Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;

That means love always wins! Do you want to be a winner? Effective? Useful? Profitable? Then LOVE!

Will you be kind? Will you give up being easily offended and hurt, in order to show love? Will you stop thinking evil things? Will you love and enjoy truth? Will you bear one another's burdens?

Go down to verse 13 and it says,
(13) And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Look at love as a necessity. Without love there is no maturity. Take these guidelines as a challenge to yourself. Do you need something fixed to love good and love others more? The altar is open this morning. God is worthy, God deserves it. Will you love God, will you love your neighbor as yourself?

Do it, do it for God.

01/27/2025

Yesterday's sermon was from 1 Corinthians 12:12-31:
(12) For an the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
(13) For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body - whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free - and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.
(14) For in fact the body is not one member but many.
(15) If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
(16) And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
(17) If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?
(18) But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.
(19) And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
(20) But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.
(21) And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."
(22) No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.
(23) And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty,
(24) but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it,
(25) that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.
(26) And if one members suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
(27) Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
(28) And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
(29) Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
(30) Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
(31) But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

What does it mean to be in the body of Christ? A part of the church. We're all different but together, because God has placed us together. The two most un-alike people are connected to each other by God.

Preachers, teachers, each one of us. We're all a part of the body of Christ. The Baptists down the road are also a part of the church body. The Holy Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ as soon as we accept Christ as our Savior.

Look at verse 13. Wherever you were born, whatever you used to be and do; once the Spirit enters you, you are a part of the body of Christ.

John 4:13,14 reads:
(13) Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
(14) "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."

Jesus was speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well. Are you drinking from the Spirit? Nourished, giving yourself totally to the Holy Spirit? Be still and be receptive to what is offered to you. We need the Holy Spirit in us and giving us drink.

Our foundation has to be Jesus Christ, or it will all crumble. Ask God to fill you, strengthen you, and drink from the Spirit. Make sure you're leaning on Him at all times. God made you just as you are; you can't change yourself. But God will use the smallest, weakest people to do his greatest work.

In the Old Testament, Gideon had his army cut by God down to just 300 men with torches and pitchers, and God gave them the victory.

Do you feel like you can't do much for the body of Christ? Too small, too weak, too unprepared? Watch for the things God is going to do in your life. Why? Because HE can. Find your place that will please God for you to occupy.

Things we can't say in the body of Christ:
1. I'm too little
2. I'm too weak
3. I don't need this person or that person in my church
4. They're too weak to be useful
5. They are not honorable
6. That's not my problem
7. I don't care about that person
8. Why should I care if they achieved something?

The word "schism" means division. We can't have that in the body of Christ.

Commit yourself to the body of Christ, say "I will make this my purpose." Find nourishment in the Spirit. Find an unlikely place to serve; God will make you capable. Let the Spirit work in you and through you to serve the body of Christ. Are there needs around you? Look and see!

It seems like it's been a year since we last got to have church, and it was wonderful being back in the house of the Lord yesterday morning. First of all, we want to welcome our new pastor, Richard Jones. This is his first sermon at Morrison Chapel, and we look forward to worshiping with him and learning from him in the future.

The sermon Scripture came from John 2:1-11:
(1) On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
(2) Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.
(3) And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine."
(4) Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come."
(5) His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."
(6) Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.
(7) Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." And they filled them up to the brim.
(8) And He said to them, "Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast." And they took it.
(9) When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.
(10) And he said to him, "every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then that which is inferior; but you have kept the good wine until now."
(11) This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

See if you can see yourself in this story. In those times, it was bad to run out of wine at a wedding. The groom's family was responsible for it, and it was never a good thing to run short. Weddings in that time lasted up to a week.

But why did Mary bring this up to Jesus? He seemed to not want to get involved.

Who are the servants of Christ today? Us! We are like those servants; we need to be willing to do whatever Jesus says. What is God asking you today? Will you do what He asks?

The waterpots that Jesus told the servants to fill held about 120-180 gallons of water, all together. That's a lot of water! The servants had to fill them up themselves, so it took some time. But the wedding was still going on. Even though it was difficult and took some time, the servants did what Jesus said.

Easy tasks are easy to do. Difficult tasks demand more from us.

How often do we give up on something like reading our Bibles every day, or praying regularly?

The wine was sent to the master of the feast. Who is our Master? Is it Jesus, or are you serving another? Make Jesus your Master today, your #1. What are you working toward in life today? Dedicate it to Jesus, however big or small it might be. DO IT UNTO THE LORD.

Here's the cool part - the master tasted the wine, and proclaimed it to be the best wine yet. It was just water...until Jesus got behind it. The servants knew what happened. Surely they were amazed at what happened as well.

Why did Jesus do this? To manifest Himself through the Scriptures; this was His first miracle, His first sermon. If Jesus was willing to manifest His glory to the people at the wedding, why would He not be willing to manifest His glory to us in the same way?

It's nothing we can do of ourselves. He can turn our labors for the Kingdom of Heaven into a big thing. Little is much.

"But I'm young."
"But I'm a new Christian."

It's okay, just make Jesus your Master from here on out, no matter what. Listen to His Word, and obey it. We are purchased by His blood at Calvary. Fill your waterpots! Search and find the thing that God has for you to do right now.

To get started, read the Word. Take the time, make it a priority. The same goes for prayer. Pray for yourself, your friends, your family, the country. Not good at it? Practice - the more you do it the easier it will get.

What can you do for Jesus? Not sure? Just ask Him! Say, "I need help figuring this out. Show me what to do. Give me something to do." Take time this week, and try to find 6 things you can do for God.

Can you imagine the servant taking WATER to the master? He had to have faith that it would be okay. The servant didn't tell the master "I made this wine." He knew where the power and miracle came from.

There is power in having the Holy Ghost in us. Trust in faith that Jesus will make your labors increase. Jesus loves you, He has a plan for you.

ADDENDUM:
There is a song from years ago that talks about this; here is the chorus to "Little Is Much".

Little is much, when God is in it
Labor not for wealth or fame
There’s a crown and you can win it
If you go in Jesus’ Name.
