“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.” — John 6:56

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. In the Holy Eucharist, Jesus gives Himself completely to us: body, blood, soul, and divinity.

May we always remember that we are not alone. Christ remains with us in the Blessed Sacrament, nourishing us with His love and calling us to become what we receive.

On this Ascension Sunday, we celebrate when Christ ascended to heaven to be with the Father and reign in glory. But He has not left the world behind. He promises that He will always be with us and He entrusts the faithful with a mission: carry His love, hope, and truth into the world.

How are you being called to be Christ's witness today?

Friends, our Easter Gospel (John 20:1–9) contains St. John’s magnificent account of the resurrection.

There are three key lessons that follow from the disquieting fact of the resurrection. First, this world is not all there is. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead shows as definitively as possible that God is up to something greater than we had imagined. We don’t have to live as though death were our master and as though nihilism were the only coherent point of view. We can, in fact, begin to see this world as a place of gestation toward something higher, more permanent, more splendid.

Second, the tyrants know that their time is up. Remember that the cross was Rome’s way of asserting its authority. But when Jesus was raised from the dead through the power of the Holy Spirit, the first Christians knew that Caesar’s days were, in point of fact, numbered. The faculty lounge interpretation of the resurrection as a subjective event or a mere symbol is exactly what the tyrants of the world want, for it poses no real threat to them.

Third, the path of salvation has been opened to everyone. Jesus went all the way down, journeying into pain, despair, alienation, even godforsakenness. He went as far as you can go away from the Father. Why? In order to reach all those who had wandered from God. In light of the resurrection, the first Christians came to know that, even as we run as fast as we can away from the Father, we are running into the arms of the Son.

Let us not domesticate these still-stunning lessons of the resurrection. Rather, let us allow them to unnerve us, change us, and set us on fire.

The pierced hands and feet of the Savior are the sacred signs that proclaim our salvation. The saints are drawn to embrace and to kiss these wounds, so much do they grasp what it means for Jesus to suffer and die for us.

The gift of Piety gives us a reverential view of the world. The Holy Spirit disposes us to see everything as God’s possession and every person as God’s son or daughter. Nailed to the cross, Jesus becomes the supremely just and reverent man.

His death restores to the Father the people who had been lost by Adam’s sin. He ascended on high and took prisoners captive; he gave gifts to men (Eph 4:8).

“Could not keep watch with me for one hour? Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test.”⁣

The Pascal Triduum is a single liturgy spread over three days, beginning tonight on Holy Thursday. There is no final blessing or dismissal at Mass, rather, the Blessed Sacrament is processed to an Altar of Repose, and the faithful are invited to keep watch with the Lord.⁣

All are welcome to come spend a few moments in silence and prayer, reflecting on Christ’s love and sacrifice as we enter into the Triduum.⁣

On this Wednesday of Holy Week, the Gospel recalls Judas’ decision to betray Jesus.

It’s easy to point fingers at Judas. Harder to examine our own hearts.

Where do I resist God’s will? Where do I choose comfort over faithfulness?

We are all sinners, but the good news of Holy Week is that no betrayal is greater than God’s mercy.

🐟 Record-Breaking Gratitude! 🐟

On behalf of the Knights of Columbus Council #6992, we want to extend a massive thank you to our St. Dominic parish family and the entire Kingsport community!

This year’s Lenten Fish Fry's were truly one for the books. Thanks to your incredible support, we saw record-breaking attendance over the last six weeks! More importantly, it was a joy to see our Parish Life Center filled with laughter, fellowship, and new friendships being made across the Kingsport area.

A Special Shout-Out:
This wouldn't have been possible without our incredible volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. We also want to give a huge thank you to St. Dominic’s School for supplying those delicious desserts that topped off every meal!🧁🍰🍪

Whether you’ve been coming for years or joined us for the first time, you made this season special. We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve you.
We’re already counting down the days until we can do it all again!
