MONDAY ENCOURAGEMENT | UNWRAPPING WISDOM
Yesterday, we continued our Christmas in July series and unwrapped another gift of the Spirit: the word of wisdom.
This isn't human intelligence.
It isn't good advice.
It isn't simply knowing more than everyone else in the room.
The word of wisdom is Holy Ghost given.
It is supernatural wisdom—divine direction given by the Spirit that a person could not have arrived at on their own.
We see a picture of this in Acts 15.
The early church was facing a difficult question. There were differing opinions and a decision needed to be made that would impact the church moving forward.
Then James spoke.
What came forth brought direction into a situation man couldn't settle on his own.
That's the gift.
“For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom…”
— 1 Corinthians 12:8
The same Holy Ghost is still speaking.
Still giving wisdom.
Still bringing divine direction into situations where human understanding reaches its limit.
We don't serve a silent God, and He has not left His church to figure everything out on our own.
The gifts of the Spirit are still for the church.
