Judges 1
1After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the LORD, “Who of us is to go up first to fight against the Canaanites?”
2The LORD answered, “Judah shall go up; I have given the land into their hands.”
4When Judah attacked, the LORD gave the Canaanites and Perizzites into their hands,

8The men of Judah attacked Jerusalem also and took it. They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.

21The Benjamites, however, did not drive out the Jebusites,

27But Manasseh did not drive out the people of Beth Shan or Taanach or Dor or Ibleam or Megiddo and their surrounding settlements, …When Israel became strong, they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor but never drove them out completely.

They failed to do as the LORD had instructed!
After Joshua’s whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation had grown up who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel.

11Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD and served the Baals.
12They forsook the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt.

This new generation had not experienced the conquest or the discipline of wilderness life. Their lack of personal/firsthand knowledge made them vulnerable to fear, compromise, and assimilation into Canaanite worship.

You Choose.

Joshua 24
14“Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. SERVE THE LORD!
15And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

You choose, the choice is yours.

The Lot Rule – Choose Carefully Where You Pitch Your Tent

Whichever direction you pitch your tent your feet follow.
Wrong visions lead to wrong pursuits.

Prov 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

18Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
But he who keeps the law will be happy.

Where there is no… vision, revelation, instruction, understanding, direction…
There are no boundaries, no rules to live by…. Anything goes.

Genesis 13
12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and Lot pitched his tents near S***m. ...
18 So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the LORD.

Two men...
Set their gaze on two very different things…with two very different outcomes.
If the source of our revelation is Instagram, our feet will march us directly into darkness and destruction
Wherever you face your tent, wherever your set your eyes, your footsteps follow.
Lot pitched his tent toward S***m and his feet eventually took him there…angels found him seated in the gate...The direction of the gaze determines the direction of the life.

Where is your gaze? … Soon your feet will follow.
