There is something powerful happening at Mechanics of Faith, and it goes far beyond repairing vehicles. 🔧❤️🙏
Over the past week, we’ve been blessed to have individuals with 30, 40, and even more years of automotive experience stop by the shop. They aren't coming because they have to—they're coming because they want to pour their knowledge, experience, encouragement, and time into the next generation.
For our apprentices, especially those working to rebuild their lives through recovery and second-chance opportunities, that means more than we can put into words.
Our apprentices have already completed over 1,000 hours of hands-on training and mentoring, and every day they continue to amaze us with their willingness to learn, work, and push themselves further.
Today was a perfect example.
What started as what we thought would be a relatively straightforward engine swap quickly became something much bigger when we discovered the used engine needed additional work. Instead of seeing it only as a setback, we turned it into a classroom.
The team started breaking down the engine, learning timing, understanding internal components, troubleshooting problems, and gaining experience they simply couldn't get from a textbook.
And standing beside them were people who have spent decades in this industry, sharing what they've learned, answering questions, encouraging them when things became difficult, and showing them what a lifetime of knowledge looks like.
We've also had former clients and members of the community simply stop by to see how we're doing and encourage our staff and apprentices.
THIS is community.
It isn't just about fixing cars. It's experienced technicians pouring into new technicians. It's people encouraging individuals who are rebuilding their lives. It's apprentices discovering that someone believes they're worth investing in. It's clients becoming supporters and supporters becoming mentors.
You can teach someone how to turn a wrench—but when you combine education, mentorship, encouragement, opportunity, and community, you can help change the direction of someone's life.
To everyone who has walked through our doors this week just to teach, encourage, check on us, or lend a hand: thank you.
You may think you're just spending a few hours in a garage.
We see something much bigger happening.
Knowledge is being passed down.
Confidence is being built.
People are being lifted up.
Lives are being restored.
