Pastor Wendell Brown used examples from Biblical characters such as Abraham, tax collector Matthew, a synagogue leader and a woman with hemorrhages to remind us that each of these people were "action figures" who demonstrated their faith by what they did. Each of us has a chance to listen to God and go where God sends us. One of the ways we do that is by attending church and living among God's faithful people. Church is the place where we hear God's word and then are encouraged to incorporate it into our lives to serve people using Jesus' example.

Anita McKean spoke to us on Sunday regarding doubt about religious concepts and how she has worked through them to come to a place of faith and hope. She gave examples of people in the Bible who struggled with doubt such as Adam and Eve, Thomas and Peter. Reaching a place of faith amid our fears and questions takes courage but when we hold fast to the promises of Scripture, we exercise and develop our faith muscles. .

WEAR RED THIS SUNDAY
Pentecost Sunday is on May 24, 2026. It is celebrated 50 days after Easter Sunday (inclusive of Easter) and commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Red is worn on Pentecost to symbolize the Holy Spirit and its power. The tradition is rooted in the biblical account of the Holy Spirit descending upon the apostles in the form of "tongues of fire". This visual representation of fire is associated with the Holy Spirit's transformative and powerful presence, making red a fitting color for this celebration.

Plan to attend and invite a friend.

1 Peter 3:15. In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as Holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.

The Schmidt Ranch barn in Bitterwater was a delightful location for our third Sunday afternoon service. Pastor Bill Rist of Brushed Up Ministries didn't have to travel far from his home to give us a message of hope. He asked us to consider saying to people "What's the good word?" when we greet them as a way of focusing on what's positive in the world and the blessings we have.

Psalm 12:25 says "Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad." Will we be prepared this week to share our testimony of God's work in our lives and find ways to encourage others?

We are grateful to Shari Schmidt and Jeff Popnoe for sharing their ranch…and horses…with us.

If you missed the service, you can check it out on our GRACE, King City YouTube Channel. Music this week included He's Got the Whole World, Open the Eyes of My Heart, Just a Closer Walk with Thee and Put Your Hand in the Hand. The voice and guitar of Randy Handley was a treat.

Pastor Wendell Brown used our Scripture from 1 Peter 2:2-10 to talk to us about what it means to be part of a royal priesthood. A priest is one who stands between God and people. When the Scripture says "You are a holy priesthood," it implies that God ministers to us through each other. There are times when we pray for each other, receive communion together, teach each other about God and serve each other. God's ultimate commission to us is to Love God and Love each other.

And I'll praise You in this storm, And I will lift my hands
For you are who You are No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried, You hold in Your hand
You never left my side And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm..

Pastor Alex Negrete spoke to us from Scripture based in Psalm 116 with a message titled Freely Received, Gratefully Given.
His message reminded us that we can never repay God for His goodness—we can only respond. True gratitude begins with remembering what God has done, continues in receiving His grace, and overflows into a life of worship, obedience, and testimony. We don’t give to earn God’s love—we give because we’ve already received it. 😊
