Worship on Wednesday

"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do : forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14

Regret over the past is a primary thief of joy and peace. Whether a mistake was made twenty years ago or twenty minutes ago, there is nothing you can do about it except repent, receive forgiveness, forget the past, and go on. If there is something you can do to undo the results of your mistakes, then by all means, do it. But the bottom line is that you still must let go of the past in order to grasp the future.

Like Paull, we are all pressing toward the mark of perfection, but none of us have arrived. Even though he endured difficulty, I believe Paul enjoyed his life journey and ministry, and this "one aspiration" of his was part of the reason why. He had learned to forget his mistakes and refused to live in regret of the past.

Always remember that regret steals now! God has called us to be closer to Him in the now. When we cling to the past, we lay aside our faith and stop believing, then lose our peace and joy.

Let this be a day of decision for you--a day when you decide to no longer operate in regret. Become a now person. Live in the present. God has a plan for you now. Trust Him today.

Worship on Wednesday

"Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes." Song of Solomon 2:15

Little disappointments can create frustration, which in turn may lead to bigger problems that can produce a great deal of damage.

Besides the huge disappointments that occur when we fail to get the job promotion or house we wanted we can become just as upset by minor annoyances. For example, suppose you are expecting someone to meet you for lunch and they arrive late. Or suppose you make a special trip to the mall to buy something at a discount but it's sold out.

These kinds of frustrations are ,minor, but they can add up to cause a lot of grief. That's why we have to know how to handle them, and keep them in perspective. Otherwise, they can get out of hand and be blown out of proportion.

We would be wise to be on our guard against the little foxes that steal our peace.

With God's help, we can learn to do as Paul did in the book of Acts when the serpent attached itself to his hand---he simply shook it off(Acts 28:1-5)! If we practice dealing quickly with disappointments as they come, they will not pile up and become a mountain of devastation.

Victory is not the absence of problems; it is the presence of God's power.

Over the last week we have had the passing of two of our Church family relatives.

Last Thursday night 5/21, Buck Skelton's sister Christine Shaub was in a car accident and lost her life.

Yesterday 5/28 Mike and Debra Barrish son
Donald Michael Barrish passed away in the ICU at Memorial Hospital.

Both families have asked, in leiu of flowers or meals that a donation be made to help defer the cost of funeral expenses.

We will receive a special offering this Sunday 5/31
For both families.
If writing a check or online giving please note it to be for family funeral expenses.

All gifting will be sent from the Church to each Funeral Home.
Please be in Prayer on what God desires you to do!
Pastor Jay.
