How can you know whether it’s truly the Holy Spirit speaking—or simply your own thoughts and desires?

God’s direction will never compete with God’s Word. It will point us toward Jesus, grow us to become more like Christ, and often challenge us to surrender what we wanted for what He knows is best.

Discernment isn’t just about recognizing God’s voice. It’s about being willing to obey once we do.

Watch this—and take a moment to examine how you’re approaching God for direction.

Are you asking God for direction—or asking Him to approve the decision you’ve already made?

It’s difficult to hear God clearly when we’ve already decided what we want Him to say. True discernment begins when we lay down our plans, come before Him with an open heart, and genuinely desire His will above our own.

The Holy Spirit is speaking. The question is whether we’re listening with a heart ready to obey—even when His answer isn’t the one we wanted.

Some guilt makes us want to hide. The Holy Spirit’s conviction calls us back to God.

That difference matters—especially when shame has convinced us that we’ve failed too badly or wandered too far. God doesn’t expose what’s wrong in our lives to leave us without hope. He does it because He loves us, wants to restore us, and isn’t finished working in us.

If you’ve been carrying guilt, shame, or spiritual discouragement, take a moment and watch this.

The Holy Spirit’s conviction exposes what is wrong, but He never does so without pointing us toward repentance, forgiveness, and restoration.

Paul calls this “godly grief”—a sorrow that produces genuine repentance, renewed earnestness, and a desire to make things right. Condemnation says, “You are guilty, and there is no hope.” Conviction says, “This must change, and through Christ, it can.”

If you belong to Christ, you do not have to hide from conviction or become paralyzed by shame. Let the Spirit reveal the truth, then follow Him into the freedom and restoration only Jesus can provide.
