A SUMMATION OF JOHN 3: 1-21
1. Vv. 1-8: Salvation is a work of God – “born again/ born from above”. One’s own self-righteousness, religious works/ ceremonies/ activities/ affiliations, good behavior, etc. are insufficient and incapable of getting one into the Kingdom of God! The problem with “man” is a sinful, corrupt and rebellious heart towards God. Outward “acts/deeds” cannot and will not change it (either the heart OR the problem)! Only God Can! The efforts of a corrupt and sinful heart (even to change itself) only produce corrupt and sinful results. Only the work of the Holy Spirit (God) in a person’s heart can produce a changed heart. See Ezekiel 36: 25-27, Titus 3:5. Man must have someone outside of himself to really “change” him – God. Could one really trust the “self-change” of heart by a murderer, that comes from the same heart that prompted him to murder in the first place?! A changed heart is the work of God.
2. Vv. 9-13. Jesus calls for Nicodemus (and us) to believe what HE says! After all, Jesus, who is God, is the One who came from God to bring to man the truth of God’s redemptive plan for man, and to BE that plan, knows and understands what the truth of God is. Theological Professor, Dr. Nicodemus didn’t; not to the point of believing it! Theological or even Biblical “academia” does not equal “believing God”!
3. Vv.14-15. Here, Jesus presents God’s plan of salvation. Himself, as the substitutionary atonement for our sins, by faith alone apart from any self- righteous works of our own, but solely by the grace of God! Jesus alludes to scripture that Nicodemus knew and should have understood, Numbers 21:4-9.
• Israel (and mankind) under the just judgement of God because of their rebellion and sin against God. Vv.4-6.
• The people recognized their sin against God and repented, turning to God’s mercy and grace alone to forgive them and deliver them from their just judgement. V. 7.
• God provided, by His grace, a substitution to bear their punishment; their “judgement”, lifted up and borne on a standard (pole) Vv. 8-9.
• To those who turned to God’s redemption with a believing heart, they were delivered from God’s judgement of their sin and instead given life. Vv. 8-9.
So Jesus explained to Nicodemus that is what He was, God’s substitutionary payment for man’s sin, to those who would believe in Him as Lord and Savior.
4. Vv. 16-18a. Even though these verses are in the middle, if not the end, of Jesus’ discussion with Nicodemus, they are the most familiar. In context, Jesus is informing Nicodemus (and us) WHY God would do this, WHAT God did, and TO WHOM it would be done.
• WHY: “For God so loved the world…” God’s Grace!
• WHAT: “… gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish (from the judgement for his sins), but have eternal life.”
• TO WHOM: “…whoever believes in Him…”
5. Vv. 18b-21. UNBELIEF brings the just judgement of God upon one -- payment for the deeds of one’s evil and sinful heart. BELIEF, from a changed heart, comes to God and His truth; his deeds proving that GOD has done a “work” in his heart.

I find myself again sitting at home quarantined because of COVID-19 and unable to hold church services. But rather than just let the day slip by with no instruction, exhortation, encouragement so needed from the Word; let me suggest a message. Go to gty.org/resources/sermons/scripture/Luke/a sinner meets a seeking savior; Luke 19:1-10 parts 1and 2. pastor John Macarthur. In our study of the book of Mark, we've just finished chapter 10. This passage fills in the gap between Mark chapter 10 and Mark chapter 11. As you will see, it is a "short" message. 🥰

To those who check the site, let me give you another sermon to listen to. Again, Voddie Baucham, "Getting the Gospel Right" . Just type it in your browser or go to "YouTube" . These I suggest because they are better than what I could give over Facebook, (and shorter too!) I hope you will take the time to listen to them. They are what I would wish to convey to you, just better done. If you haven't yet listened to my other recommendations, let me encourage you to check the other posts and do so. You won't be disappointed! Pastor Rande

It does not take a keen observer to figure out that our nation is and has been for a good while widely divided, politically, morally, and spiritually. The COVID-19 outbreak and the resulting measures enacted during it have not helped this divide. In fact, it may have added more places of disagreement among more people than they ever had before. Every side claims THEY are the right side and the other is uninformed or lying. There is so much "information" spewed out there, much with the total opposite "view" of the others and most with at least "questioned" agendas from the other side(s)! much of the time the disagreement is heated and ends up with undisguised animosity towards the other side(s). Defending their view becomes the objective rather than finding the truth. (Notice that I said truth not "facts". Facts can be manipulated to say whatever one want to "prove". The truth is the truth.) It all just seems to depend on where your view point comes from! How can a Christian (and that is my audience in this) filter through all of this and find the truth?! Dear Christian, There is basically only two origins of all view points; the World and God. To find the truth, you need to look in the truth, God's Word. So Let me take you to Psalm 139:24, the last phrase, "And lead me in the everlasting way." The very first thing that David the Psalmist tells us is again; you must seek it from the right source, God! "You God", David is saying, "are the One who can lead me in the right, true, unchanging way. The one that will end with the correct destination!" If you will, " the everlasting way"! Secondly, David clearly implies that one must be willing to know the truth to find it. "...Lead me...". Granted, it is God's merciful grace towards us that He draws our hearts to Him to be led! God has a way, the right way, the way of truth, so that we might know which "way" that we should walk. He is able to lead us in the truth so that we are not confused. Now, observe WHY David chooses to follow God's way. Verses1-6: (READ) David is saying," God knows everything about me! Everything, inside and out! Certainly He can see my wrong tendencies and weaknesses and lead me over them!" God is not limited by a lack of understanding of who we are that would hinder somehow His leading us. Verses 7-12: (READ) David proclaims, " There is no place that I might go that You, O God, cannot lead me! There is no place that we can go that God cannot lead us, or that His leading is not valid. Verses 13-18: (READ) "Who better to lead me in the way I should go than You, God, who made me in intimate, precise detail! David says. No one has the better right and better understanding to lead us than God our personal Creator and Designer! Who better could we trust to know how to lead us in the way we should go?! Verses 19-24: David's conclusion after considering the facts, " Let me be influenced by Thee alone, O God, and not the influence of wicked men. Remove those wicked tendencies from me as well and lead me in YOUR everlasting way!" So should our attitude be also, if we desire to be led in our thinking and actions in God's truth to the right conclusions, through the myriads of entangled and confusing opinions of this time!

If you have not taken advantage of listening to the sermons I listed previously, let me encourage you to do so. They were selected for a reason. Let me highlight one for today. Voddie Baucham: The Supremacy of Christ in Truth in a Post-modern world. your world view determines how you answer four basic questions in life: 1. Who am I? 2. Why am I here? 3. What's wrong with the world? 4. How do you fix it? Listen and find out! If you would know the importance of the Resurrection of Christ; try this one! Voddie Baucham, The Resurrection. IF you listen, you will not be sorry you did! IF you don't, you will remain as you are, and have missed much! 🥰

Another Sunday is here. Let me suggest a message for those who will be looking for a message at home: "The Certainty of God's Existence" by Dr. MacArthur, at GTY.org/ sermons/ by title/ "c" (the letter). This is the second time I've posted this. I don't know what happened to the other post. I hope this one comes through.🥰

We are all, by nature, God’s enemies, and we deserve His wrath. But, there is hope! Find out how you can be at peace with God for eternity as John MacArthur shows you fifteen words that sum up the most powerful truth in all of Scripture.

You are aware that a virus, in a few short days, has altered our lifestyles whether we wanted it to or not. Many feel 'uncomfortable' (for whatever reason) attending church services because of it. So, I would like to put something online for them from the Word of God. I could put up my own 'message' ,and still may when I figure out the technology needed, but I thought I would suggest a superior message and speaker while I had the opportunity. Here are some: 1. Voddie Baucham, "Why I believe the Bible" (link already posted below) 2. Voddie Baucham, "The Supremacy of Christ in truth in a Post-modern World" (internet, YouTube) 3. Voddie Baucham, "The Peril of Pragmatism" (internet, YouTube). I will try to get the links posted later o f the two last ones. Choose one and listen! You will not be disappointed!🥰

Probably the most significant question in our society today that we as Christians are asked to answer is, "Why do you believe the Bible?" Obviously, the implication is, "Why should THEY believe the Bible?" "How do you know it is the Word of God?" This is an important and legitimate question. we are called as Believers to, " … always be(ing) ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you..." Do you have a good answer? Would you like to have a "good answer"? Or, maybe you are one that is seeking the answer to that question. Let me refer you to a video on the net to give you a definitive answer to the question. Just type in: Voddie Baucham why I believe the bible. ( I like the video best that says, "proof MUST SEE IT...
