Thought I would share our Exultet from Easter Vigil and it's meaning.

The lighting of the paschal candle is a remnant of our early Christian practices where there was a ritual lighting of a oil lamp, candle, or other light source, that marked the beginning of Sunday, usually practiced after sunset on Saturday night.
The Easter Proclamation, or Exultet, is a reminder of our identity as Christians and our debt to Christ on the Cross, who in His suffering gave light to the world so we may see God and come to believe in Him.
The Exultet begins by naming everything in heaven and on earth that hears the good news of Christ's ressurection. Ministers of heaven, hosts and angels, Exult! God has triumphed, death has been defeated.
Mother Church, the assembled and unassembled faithful are called to rejoice. "Let this holy building shake with joy" the proclamation says. The debt has been paid and eternal life has been granted so long as we believe.
When we gather at Mass on holy days, especially on the holiest feast of Easter, we partake in ancient feasts celebrated by the people whose churches were started by the very apostles called by Jesus.
When we light the paschal candle, we are engaging in the very rituals that brought light into the darkness as a reminder of Christ's light in the world.
When we choose to live as Christians, we are given the promise of the defeat of death that only Jesus' resurrection can conquer.
