Setting your mind on the things of God means embracing the cross before receiving the crown.

The church can never rise above the Christ it imagines. This is exactly how you get churches that image a Christ that we would know nothing of. Some churches only “know” of a squishy-gushy Jesus that looks like a modern progressive. Others only “know” a hardened John Wayne version that quickly strikes down law and order. Christ will build His church, and nothing will stop it. His authority given to the church affirms and guards the gospel.

You have no claim to the table with Christ. Yet those who receive mercy by faith are brought in.

The parable of the dragnet sets our expectations, resets our timeline, and seals our certainty. The kingdom of heaven will gather everyone with a future sorting and a final separation.
