Remind them (believers)
to be ready for every good deed,
to be peaceable,
gentle,
showing every consideration for all men.

Why?
For we also once were once foolish (a mess) ourselves…
Titus‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Kindness to Go. Not a random act.

Kindness To Go creates a fun family friendly outward-focus.

God’s intentional plan.
Titus 3:4-5 NASB “When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us.“

Who appeared? Jesus. He was not a random act of kindness. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit intentionally decided to redeem us.

They intentionally chose Jesus to be our redeemer..

He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, Ephesians 1:5 (NASB1995)

He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him. (Jesus) Ephesians 1:9 (NASB1995)

All outreach is an intentional act.
There is no random.
There is intentional planning, creating, going, and sharing the Good News.

Most people who are successful in outreach tune in to the Holy Spirit, and listen for His prompting. They then respond to what they hear. They go.

One of my friends developed a Kindness Cart. He and a few others head downtown Dayton on a Saturday. They have conversations. Share snacks and pray for people.

Why Kindness To Go after Sunday Services?

There are more people attending a Sunday service than attend a planned Saturday Outreach.

Therefore, more people are able to catch our vision for outreach as a lifestyle on a Sunday Service.

Upper Room Ohio is mostly attended by young families. They are busy with their kids activities and have little time on weekends. Kindness to go on a Sunday enables families to reach out to their community.

Here’s how we plan:
We plan by picking a date.
Designing and printing connect cards.
Purchasing the gift bags.
Purchasing the items..
Packing the gift bags.
Creating a display near the exits so people can grab and go.
Announcing Kindness To Go in our announcements.
Praying for the outreach.

On the day someone holds up the gift and encourages people to take to the gift to someone they know who needs encouragement, or to a drive through, or to be creative during the week and give to someone when prompted. On the back of the card is our connection points. Name. Address. Website.

Over the years I’ve had bouts of extreme anxiety triggered by past experiences …mainly when I am in the midst of performance based expectations, connected to a life time of dealing with “not measuring up to my and others expectations.”

As a result I’ve had to consistently exercise my faith vs fear muscle.

Recently I’ve been leaning into some life saving habits that have been helping.

I walk in the woods two miles most days.
I’ve been taking time to be alone to think, ponder and wait.
I write Biblical encouragement by finding up passages that speak to my heart and situation.
I read positive books like The Way Of The Warrior McMannus
I’m re-practicing implementing Jesus’ words, His life situations, and His thoughts about anxiety, fear, and faith.

ie.
Do not let
your/my heart be troubled;
believe in God,
believe also in Me.” John‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“Peace I leave with you;
My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.
Do not let
your/my heart
be troubled,
nor
let it
be fearful.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭27‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Psalm 27 is always my go to help.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?

Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.

“I would have despaired
unless
I had believed
that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

Wait for the Lord;
Be strong
and
let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.”@

It’s not a quick fix …shifting my negative internal self conversation to positive thoughts in the midst of triggers… has been helping my heart to be come stronger and to have courage in the midst of fear based situations.

Someone once said, “If there is no fear, there is little need for courage.
