My Bad—”Own Up” | Just Sayin Series | Pastor Steve Miller – Team Church
Being wrong is one thing; refusing to own it is another. Spiritual maturity does not mean never needing correction—it means accepting correction when it comes. The longer we resist owning up to the truth, the harder our hearts can become. So, stop skirting responsibility for what is wrong and use your words to own it—confess quickly, turn from it, and find mercy.

Having something true to say does not automatically mean we are using our words wisely. Proverbs teaches us to consider whether our words are shaped by God’s wisdom, whether we are handling truth carefully, and what is really ruling the heart behind what we say. Even Scripture can be used foolishly when it becomes a weapon for our own purposes. God wants more than cleaner language—He wants hearts surrendered to Christ.

It’s How You Say It—“Brush Up Part 1-Words that Fit” | Just Sayin Series | Pastor Steve Miller – Team Church
Speaking the truth doesn’t mean we get to ignore how it is received. Proverbs teaches that wise words are fitly spoken—suited to the person, the moment, and the setting. This week we’ll consider how godly communication asks Who? When? Where? before we speak. We need the fearlessness to tell the truth without becoming careless with the people who have to hear it.

Hear Me Out—“Listen Up” | Just Sayin Series | Pastor Steve Miller – Team Church
We often want others to hear us out before we fully understand or have even listened in the first place. Wise conversations require humility, discernment, and a sensitivity to what is being said and what is not. The book of Proverbs warns against assuming too quickly, refusing to listen, and deciding what needs to be said before we seek to understand. Proverbs: 12:15; 18:2, 13, 15, 17; 19:20; 20:5

Not everything needs to be said. In this message, Pastor Steve Miller teaches the biblical wisdom of knowing when to speak and when to stay silent. From the Book of Proverbs, we learn how too many words can compromise trust, prolong conflict, and reveal a heart that is not fully surrendered to Jesus.

If you struggle with gossip, venting, oversharing, conflict that lasts too long, or saying things you wish you could take back—this sermon will help you understand why some things truly are better left unsaid.

What You’ll Learn in This Message:
• How “many words” lead to spiritual and relational trouble
• Why guarding your mouth strengthens trust and friendships
• How gossip and unnecessary talk fuel conflict
• What the Bible teaches about letting arguments die instead of giving them oxygen
• How a surrendered spirit changes the way you speak
• Why self‑control of the tongue is impossible without Jesus
• How to allow the Holy Spirit to govern your reactions and your words

Key Scriptures:
Proverbs 10:19, Proverbs 11:13, Proverbs 20:19,
Proverbs 17:9, 14, 27-28, Proverbs 26:20,
Proverbs 29:11, Proverbs 21:23

This message is part 2 of our Just Sayin Series, where we explore biblical wisdom for communication, conflict, honesty, encouragement, and the power of words in a believer’s life.
If you desire spiritual maturity, healthier relationships, fewer regrets, and a tongue surrendered to Jesus, this sermon will speak directly to your heart.

“Silence is not always golden” and it’s not always godly. There are moments when you must quit holding your tongue such as when defending truth, confronting injustice, and when someone cannot speak up for themselves. Watching our words doesn’t always mean keeping our mouths shut. The wisdom of Proverbs reveals the tension of when remaining silent might be easier
—but speaking up is Godly and right.
