2026 'Jesus and Justice' conference brings young adult advocacy to Columbia Seminary - The fourth annual “Jesus and Justice” Young Adult Advocacy Conference is less than two months away, and registration is now open for any young adults interested in participating! This year’s event, organized by Presbyterian Life & Witness staff, will take place at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, from October 23-25.

The 2026 YAAC boasts an impressive array of speakers, preachers, and facilitators, including the Co-Moderator of the 227th General Assembly (2026), the Rev. Dr. Kris Schondelmeyer; Columbia Seminary's president, the Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo, Jr., and the director of Advocacy and Witness for PL&W, the Rev. Jimmie Hawkins.

In addition to powerful keynote and worship offerings, the YAAC schedule also includes a panel featuring young adult activists, workshops to hone advocacy skills, and multiple opportunities for networking and socializing. The Rev. Carlton Johnson will offer a workshop on voting, and the Rev. Dr. Alonzo T. Johnson will lead one on drumming and poverty, as well as give a talk in collaboration with the Rev. Dr. Aisha Brooks-Johnson, executive presbyter for the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. The conference closes out with a time for collective action and witness.

Advent 2026 Call for Contributors - This winter will mark 10 years of Words for Waiting! In partnership with the PC(USA)’s Office of Christian Formation, UKirk will offer this free resource as a printable PDF and through daily posts online. But it’s not possible without YOU!

To make it all happen, we’re looking for students, campus ministers, and campus ministry groups to create daily reflections for the seasons of Advent and Christmas. If you’re not currently connected to a UKirk-network ministry, that’s okay! We’d love for you to still fill out the form if you’re interested. In the case that there are more interested contributors than days in the devotional, we do prioritize including campus-ministry-connected folks, but almost always we need a few neighbors to round out the season.

Once selected, contributors will be assigned a Scripture reading from the Revised Common Lectionary’s Daily Readings, then provide a half-page reflection and 1-2 sentence prayer. Visual art, poetry, and other creative reflections are enthusiastically welcomed! To see examples of previous devotions, check out the online version of Words for Waiting here.

If you’re interested in contributing to this year’s devotional, fill out this form by September 18 and we’ll be back in touch the week after that to confirm participation and share assignments.

Questions? Contact project editor Allison Wehrung.

💡 Rethinking Sacred Spaces: The Future of Church Properties - What happens when a historic 30,000-square-foot church building outgrows its congregation?

Over in Columbus, Ohio, Indianola Presbyterian Church is facing this exact challenge head-on. Instead of letting deferred maintenance drain their resources, they are creatively reimagining how their land can serve the modern neighborhood.

It is an inspiring look at shifting from "resource dependency" to community-focused ministry.
