Exodus 20:5-6 NASB1995
[5] You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, [6] but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Ponder with me...

In the here and now, it can be easy to focus on our own spiritual journey and let it stop there. But this passage reminds us that our faith has generational impact, for better or worse. God’s love for us is limitless; it never ends. Because He loves us so much, He expects us to direct our love back to Him. When we allow worldly things to replace God in our lives—things like money, success, power, approval, and control—we create false idols and we risk passing down spiritual brokenness to the generations that come after us.

The words here in Exodus warn that our sin can negatively impact generations, but it’s also a promise that when we live our lives for God, we’re sowing seeds of faithfulness. The result? Our faithfulness creates a legacy in which God pours out love for generations. If we love God and obey His commands, He will reward us and generations to come with His limitless love.

Think about the spiritual legacy you will be leaving behind. Is it one that will carry brokenness throughout generations or one that will receive God’s limitless love?

That's my 2 cents worth! Now pass the coffee!

Deuteronomy 32:45-47 ESV
[45] And when Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, [46] he said to them, “Take to heart all the words by which I am warning you today, that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law. [47] For it is no empty word for you, but your very life, and by this word you shall live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.”

Ponder with me...

As Moses prepared to say farewell to the people of Israel, he reminded them to live by God’s Word and pass along the message to their children.

“They are not just idle words for you—they are your life.” He knew that God’s Law wasn’t a suggestion or just empty words, but a foundation for faith and guidance.

The same truth applies to us today. Moses’ words are a powerful call to remember, obey, and pass down God's Word through the generations.

Whether we’re leading a team, teaching a class, mentoring a coworker, parenting children, or anything in between, we have the opportunity to demonstrate God’s Word, planting seeds of faith in the lives of others.

While Scripture is an ancient text, it still applies to our lives today in very relevant ways. It holds life-giving truth that helps shape how we live our lives and treat others. It is not a burden but a source of life and blessing.

Pray with me....
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Your Word—living, powerful, and full of truth. Thank You that it is not empty or idle, but a source of life, wisdom, and direction for our hearts.

Lord, help us to treasure Your Word the way Moses called Your people to do. Teach us to remember it, to obey it, and to carry it with us in all that we do. Let it shape our thoughts, guide our decisions, and influence the way we love and serve others.

Give us intentional hearts, Father, to pass Your truth on to the next generation—whether through our words, our actions, or the quiet example of our lives. Help us to plant seeds of faith wherever You’ve placed us—in our homes, our workplaces, and our communities.

May we never see Your Word as a burden, but as a blessing—life-giving and sustaining. Strengthen us to walk in it daily, trusting that Your truth leads us into life and peace.

We commit ourselves to You, Lord. Use us for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

☕️✨ Dr. Rock’s Ponderings and Coffee have begun! ✨☕️

Good morning friends! Grab a cup of coffee and spend a few moments in God’s Word today.

In ancient times, a Roman soldier’s shield was large and covered in leather that would be soaked in water before battle. That shield not only protected the soldier because of its size, but it also extinguished the flaming arrows of the enemy as they struck the water-soaked leather.

Today, we may not face literal flaming arrows, but life certainly sends its share of fiery darts our way—fear, anxiety, temptation, discouragement, grief, anger, doubt, and spiritual attacks.

Many times, we try to dodge those arrows on our own. We avoid the struggle, hide the hurt, or attempt to fight battles in our own strength. But God never called us to fight alone. As Christians, we are called to put on the full armor of God and take up the shield of faith.

Faith is more than positive thinking. Faith is a deep assurance built through daily trust in God’s promises. It grows through prayer, obedience, Scripture, and walking closely with the Lord even when life is difficult.

When we hold up the shield of faith, the enemy’s attacks do not have to consume us. Faith reminds us that God is still in control. Faith reminds us that God is faithful even in the storm. Faith helps us stand firm when doubt tries to creep in and when trials test our hearts.

What flaming arrows are you facing today?
Fear? Worry? Temptation? Discouragement? Bitterness?

Instead of running from them, what would it look like to lift up your shield of faith and trust God completely?

📖 Ephesians 6:16–17 (ESV)
“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

Before the first email, before the first conversation, before the day's demands rush in — there's a quiet moment when we decide who we'll be today.

Our circumstances rarely give us a choice. Our attitude always does. And the posture we take in the morning has a way of shaping everything that follows. A surrendered heart at 7 a.m. handles the unexpected at 3 p.m. very differently than one that woke up bracing for battle.

What attitude do you want to carry into today?

As recorded in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, the Apostle Paul shares that he entreated the Lord three times to remove a "thorn in the flesh"—a messenger of Satan sent to torment him. Nevertheless, God did not remove the thorn but instead comforted him, saying, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Cor 12:9). We must make the most of our time. We need to work diligently while it is still light. Darkness is approaching.

✨ Dr. Rock’s Biblical Perspective on “Aliens” and Deception ✨

Coffee and Ponderings have begun.....

As Christians, we are called to view everything through the truth of God’s Word—not through fear, speculation, or the ever-changing ideas of the world. Much discussion today centers around UFOs, extraterrestrials, and unexplained phenomena in the skies. While many people believe these are physical beings from other planets, I believe Scripture points us toward a spiritual understanding rather than an extraterrestrial one.

The Bible teaches that there are spiritual forces at work around us. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Likewise, Ephesians 2:2 speaks of “the prince of the power of the air,” referring to Satan and the spiritual influence of evil in this present world.

The Bible repeatedly warns believers not to be deceived by signs, wonders, or supernatural displays. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 24:24 that false prophets and false christs would arise and show “great signs and wonders” in order to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Jesus also warned:

“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.” — Matthew 24:26

Why did Jesus say this? Because His return will not be secretive, hidden, or mysterious. Matthew 24:27 says His coming will be like lightning flashing across the sky—visible to all. Christ warned His followers not to chase rumors, hidden revelations, or deceptive manifestations.

The Bible also cautions us not to worship or become fascinated with the “host of heaven.” Deuteronomy 4:19 warns:

“And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars… you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them.”

Our focus must always remain on God—not on signs in the heavens or unexplained phenomena.

Some point to Ezekiel chapter 1 and claim the prophet saw a UFO or spacecraft. However, Scripture clearly presents Ezekiel’s vision as a divine revelation of God’s glory and majesty, filled with symbolic imagery—not a description of extraterrestrial technology.

From a biblical perspective, the universe is populated by human beings, angels, and demonic forces—not alien civilizations competing with God’s plan for humanity. The Bible consistently places mankind at the center of God’s redemptive story through Jesus Christ.

I also believe we are seeing the fulfillment of Daniel 12:4:

“Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

We live in a time of exploding technology, rapid travel, artificial intelligence, and overwhelming information. Knowledge has increased dramatically, but increased knowledge does not always mean increased wisdom or truth.

As believers, we must exercise spiritual discernment. We are not called to live in fear of the unknown, nor are we called to obsess over mysterious signs in the skies. We are called to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, grounded in Scripture, and guided by the Holy Spirit.

The enemy has always used deception, distraction, and counterfeit wonders to pull people away from God. That is why Scripture repeatedly tells us: “Do not be deceived.”

Our hope is not in secret knowledge, government disclosures, or unexplained phenomena. Our hope is in Jesus Christ alone.

Stay watchful. Stay grounded in the Word. Stay faithful.

Ponder with me... Where Is God in the Storm?

“When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.”
Acts 27:20

There are seasons when God feels distant—when prayer seems to echo back in silence and your circumstances leave you feeling abandoned, afraid, or even hopeless. The apostle Paul understood this kind of darkness well.

Paul had long desired to preach in Rome. At last, he was on his way—only to find himself caught in a violent storm that battered his ship for days. He foresaw disaster, warning that the voyage would result in the loss of the ship, the cargo, and even their lives (v. 10). Yet those in authority ignored his counsel. As a result, Paul and 276 others were placed in a life‑threatening situation caused by the careless decisions of others, and there was nothing he could do to change it.

After fourteen days adrift at sea, with the storm at its fiercest, despair set in. Paul and his companions admitted, “We finally gave up all hope of being saved.” But it was precisely then—at the lowest point—that God intervened. An angel appeared to Paul with this assurance: “Do not be afraid, Paul… God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you” (v. 24).

What looked like the end of Paul’s calling was actually part of God’s plan. The storm did not cancel God’s purpose—it carried Paul straight into it. God faithfully guided them through the chaos to the exact destination He had ordained. Paul would still reach Rome, and he would proclaim God’s Word before Caesar himself.

Are you in a storm today? Whatever trial you are facing, know this: God can be trusted to carry you through it. He declares “the end from the beginning” (Isaiah 46:10), and He wastes nothing—not even the storm. You will emerge stronger, wiser, and more deeply anchored in Him.

Pray with me...
Father, I acknowledge Your power and sovereignty. You are the Creator of the universe, yet You invite me into personal relationship with You. Forgive me for the times I have believed that my circumstances were too great for You to handle. Today, I choose to trust You completely. Make me more than a conqueror through Christ, and use my life to influence others for Your Kingdom. Amen.

Dr. Rock’s Ponderings and Coffee ☕️

A hospital room can feel incredibly lonely.

The steady beeping of machines… unfamiliar surroundings… constant interruptions… long hours.
It can feel like you’re facing this moment all by yourself.

But the Word of God is clear and unwavering:
God is close to you right now.
God doesn’t walk with us only in moments of joy.
He draws especially near when we are weak, hurting, or afraid. Scripture reminds us that He is close to the brokenhearted and attentive to those who are suffering.

📖 Isaiah 43:1–4
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you.”

In the book of Hebrews, God’s promise is reaffirmed:
📖 Hebrews
“I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you.”
So we can boldly say, “God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what.”

Throughout Scripture, we see God’s deep compassion for those who were sick. Jesus went to them, healed them, and comforted them. His heart for the hurting has never changed.

Even if your body feels weak, your spirit can rest in this truth:
God is present in your room.
He sees you.
He knows your pain.
And He cares deeply about your recovery.

Being in the hospital does not mean you’ve been abandoned. Even this difficult season will be used for good.

🙏 A word of gratitude:
I want to thank everyone for the continued prayers and text messages—they mean more than words can express.
To my wife Shelley and daughter Ashton, thank you for taking such wonderful care of me during this hospital stay.
And to my family members in North Carolina who are praying—those prayers are felt.
I am truly blessed with an incredible group of friends and family members. God has been so good to me.

💭 Reflection:
• What fears or worries are you carrying today?
• How does it comfort you to know God is near?

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being close to me even in this difficult moment. When I feel lonely or afraid, remind me that You are right here with me. Fill this room with Your peace and Your presence. Amen.

☕ Closing:
Jesus is calling—right here, right now.
That’s my two cents worth… now pass the coffee ☕️!

✨ Blessing:
May the peace of God guard your heart and mind, may His presence fill your room, and may His healing touch bring strength and rest today. Amen.
